Who and what do you want to become starship names?

By the way, to clarify: I don't consider Biblical figures to be mere mythology and comparable to fictional gods from ancient Greece.

There are ships named by past Trek writers that wouldn't be considered today, unless the name was given in recognition of specific aspects of them that are still respected or recognized, regardless of what else is now known/believed about them, or given to commemorate another person or thing entirely of that name (particularly if last names only are used).

I've been reading a lot on the Bronze Age, and there are a ton of people and cities that would make great ship names. A USS Uruk or USS Nippur would be awesome.

USS Jonathan Archer

Archer has had at least three ships named after him:

NCC-627, from SNW (Una's old ship)
NCC-44278, from NEM (it's part of Battle Group Omega)
NCC-76725, from PIC ("Farewell" and "Vox")

And of course Archer Spacedock from DSC.

On a completely unrelated matter, I renew my call for a Klingon ship called IKS Rachel Garrett. If there's any human who the Klingons would name a ship after, it'd be her.

Edit: I just found out that Starfleet has named a ship after my favorite admiral, Maxwell Forrest! Linky :techman:

The Walker class is based off the NX class. For that reason, it make no sense for there not to be a Walker class ship without Archer's name on it.

There MAY have been a Walker-class ship named for Archer, we don't know. The only ship of that class we've ever seen is the Shenzhou.

As for ships that ARE named for Archer: We don't know the class names for NCC-627 or NCC-44278. The only class we DO know is NCC-76725, which is Ross class.

(And no, that last one wasn't named for Admiral Ross from DS9. ;) )

There are actually 3 ships so far named after Archer.

The 23rd century Archer-type NCC-627 (SNW)
The 24th century NCC-44278, which according to Star Trek Encyclopedia is an Excelsior class (name only seen on screen in NEM)
The 25th century Ross class NCC-76725 (PIC)

He also has a 32nd century spacedock, plus a comet and two planets named after him. And in non-canon sources, Archer Hall at Starfleet Academy, and Archer Auditorium at Starfleet HQ.

I’m honestly surprised we’ve never seen them go with the ”cheap pop” and shown a USS James Kirk, USS Spock or USS Leonard McCoy. Especially when we’ve seen ships named after Sulu, Uhura and Checkov.

Back in the days of the BBC Micro model B myself and a friend wrote program for Starfleet Trainees. If you passed you coul be assigned randomly to various Starships. Some of the more repeatable ones were.
USS Elvis
USS Nixon
USS Trumpton
USS Caligula
USS Bounty
USS Tinkerbell
A terrible fate awaited all of them.

I think that there should be a USS Surya Namaskar, but I am not sure if starship names can have two separate words in them? Is there precedent for this?

I watched a YouTube video about confrontations in the Mediterranean during World War 2 and there was an Admiral in charge of a destroyer squadron by the name of Manley Powers.
Now there's a name to run away from.

There was also a General Sir Manley Power in the British army leadership in the War of 1812.
