Where is your confidence level now with ST:Dis?

Low expectations now. Probably going to be lots of studio interference between now and September or whenever it airs.

A prequel is a work that forms part of a back-story to the preceding work. This is it's own story, not a lead in.

Exactly so.

By the definition of prequel that people have been throwing around here, the upcoming Wonder Woman movie is a prequel to Captain America.

Well, "studio interference" is the only way that TOS got as far as shooting the first pilot for NBC.

I was going to reply to a post that quoted me, but you've put it better than I would have hah!

I'd like to see it made - I mean, I'd like to see another three episodes of Sherlock, too - and the anxiety is nonsensical, unjustified and silly.

It's a TV show.

Yes, heaven forbid some fans care about a product they want to see which has been plagued by issues since it was announced.

Just because you find it silly doesn't mean it is silly for others to feel how they do

The strangest reactions I've seen (prominent on Reddit in particular) are the ones hoping it will fail so that they can get something more to their liking (post-Nemesis setting, being less PC, not being from the evil CBS, etc).

If it doesn't get off the ground, or fails after a season, I couldn't imagine how we would get another Trek series.

Why would anyone throw good money after bad, after all the waste and lost goodwill incurred from such a failure?

A lot of people are working hard on making themselves unhappy for the next few years and blaming it on some TV producers.
No doubt there will be plenty of blame to go around and around and around...

Indeed. It's a hard realization to accept but my favorite franchises are still, at the end of the day, a business venture. If there is not return then I don't fault studios for not continuing on.

If social media on the internet existed to the degree it does today back in 1986/87 when TNG was ramping up to start production (with ALL the issues it had in that phase)- Star Trek fans would probably have called for it's immediate cancellation before it premiered.

The delays are worrisome, no matter how you spin it. And people thinking delays would make it a better show, think again...

Of course we can't speculate much before seeing any episode. What I'll tell you is this: the series is supposed to take place 10 years before Kirk's time right? What I think they will hardly achieve, is the ability to create a science fiction environment that will look less technological than Kirk's ship. They've already done it with Enterprise, and failed badly.

Some did.

It is silly to get twisted in knots over an entertainment property. It probably points to deeper issues within that person.

Nope. TV show. Made or not, good or not, my life won't be phased in any way.

In my opinion they did a mistake by announcing a release date before they begun filming the series. The delay is normal, as this is a big project and you just cannot put a release date in stone before you have cast your crew. Once the actors are signed and you have started filming you can make an idea when you will release. Until than it had no point. Coming in 2017 would have been more than enough.

Trending down. January release, then May, now just delayed and no idea how long. Not a great start
yeah, I admit i was disspointed when i found the news on twitter this morning. hopefully the pushback wont be for more then a few months.

This reminds of the trump warriors screaming against "SJWs" but they have it in reverse. This is the best time to have a proper Roddenberry-esque series. People like to watch what they do not have in real life.
