Where is your confidence level now with ST:Dis?

I have neither hope or despair in regards to this show. None of the casting choices mean anything to me. The only one I know is Michelle Yeoh and that's because she was in the Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. The rest of them are non-entities. We know next to nothing about the premise and nothing about the characters. Fuller's departure means nothing to me because beyond Voyager and Deep Space Nine I've never watched any of his work.

All I want is a good show. Have your philosophizing but don't make it boring. I don't want to be preached at. Be subtle with the philosophy then explore a new planet or blow something up.

With all that said, I'll watch the pilot on CBS. If it's good, I'll watch the rest on Blu Ray.

I'm cautiously excited. I don't know anything about the cast, what could I possibly judge them on, their looks? That's the least of my concerns. I'm definitely going to get the CBS app and pay for it. I mean, come on, it's Star Trek, how bad can it be? I'll be happy if 50% of the episodes deal with exploration, discovery, prime directive issues, artificial intelligence - those have always been my favorite. I'll still watch the war episodes, but I expect them to be as boring as ever.

I just realized that it might not have the holodeck due to it being set before the TOS, that was one of my favorite features and some of the best TNG episodes were holodeck-centric.

Oh yes! It's an already stellar cast, but this made me just that little bit happier! Magical casting!

Yeah, all the casting so far looks really good, better than Trek has generally gotten.

Indeed! I do think DS9 had a really good cast, but more here has "name" value. I'm honestly surprised by how many I've seen, I was expecting a higher percentage of unknowns.

My hopes were high when I first heard about it...now they're teetering on the edge of the abyss. I don't mind 'change' (DS9 was a huge change from TNG and TOS), I just would like to see new adventures, moving forward in the prime timeline instead of another yet another reboot.
