If the holodeck computer is in fact temporarily creating sapient beings, then you sir are engaged in the rape of a sex slave.

If the holodeck is doing anything of the sort, then every single program that involves any kind of lifeform is ethically insupportable. Murder, kidnapping, wrongful imprisonment, brainwashing, etc.

So it's a good thing the holodeck doesn't actually do that.

Probably zero. You simply did not need any complicated self-developing program for sex slave) It seems that Holodeck COULD possibly create a true sentient being - the Moriarty is the best example - but only if the function that those holomodel is supposed to do is incredibly complicated. For example, Moriarty was created because Data needed a very complex opponent.

I REALLY doubt that the "holo slut" would need any high sentient functions to function properly to her role.

Other than that, world war 2 games. Always loved Band of Brothers, would play along in the holodeck.

I know we've treated it as a bit of a joke so far but my question of ethics and holo deck usage re. sex is actually a serious one. Why don't people in Star Trek just use the holo deck for sex? It was the first thing I thought of when I read the question but immediately felt troubled by that. Is it rape to generate a holo simulation of that girl/boy you fancied like crazy and use them for your own gratification?

Because credit cards don't have chemical compounds as advanced as the color and color protection of money, and if they didn't work I wouldnt stand there in a store with it.

If it's that easy, why not just enter the right amount of digits in the credit card field? Why even have a card?
