What Star Trek episodes or films have you been watching lately?

TNG The Enemy - Not as good as I expected, to be honest. We get Andreas Katsulas and some good Picard scenes, but the Geordi plot felt kind of generic and the Worf sub-plot wasn't as fully explored as I'd have liked.

TNG The Price - weirdly OK for a Troi romance, even though I found the guy a bit creepy. There are a few really good scenes in there.

Although I am a die-hard TOS fan, I have been watching some season 1 episodes of ENT (the box set was on sale at Wal-Mart). So far, they're not as bad as some people make them out to be. It's just disturbing to see a "mean" Vulcan (T'Pol) when Vulcans seemed so noble in TOS.
Noble? Hardly. T'Pring... T'Pau's arrogance towards non-Vulcans...Spock's constant jibes against Humans and bickering with McCoy... Sarek's issues with his son's career choice and their long-time quarel... It anything, noble Vulcans seem to be a fanon myth, though the TOS movies perhaps made them look a little nobler. The Vulcans of the later series were far more in keeping with what we saw in TOS.

T'Pol is no more mean than Spock, less so if you consider that she is from an earlier time when Vulcans and Humans were not so friendly and that she had spent a lot less time with Humans than Spock, who actually grew up with a Human mother and had spent most of his adult life among Humans, and who seemed to be always overcompensating for his half-Human heritage with his uber-Vulcan identity and constant insults aimed at Humans (albeit often in answer to McCoy's or someone else's anti-Vulcan insults aimed at him).

BTW I have nothing to add to the main subject of the thread, because I'm on holidays and away from TV, and I've got time to be alone with the computer, I've been watching Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - I have a bunch of episodes on my USB that I brought on holidays to finally catch up on that show... but I've been reading Trek books...

Watching VOY and ENT via DVR.

Is it just me, or did SyFy skip "The Council" this time around? It didn't record on my DVR, FWIW.

After watching "The Countdown" last night, we switched over to VOY and watched "Threshold." I've heard that it's regarded as a bad episode, and I warned my wife about it.

Her first reaction after it ended?

"I never want to watch that again."

It was just as awful as I'd heard. I tried to find something redeeming in it, but boy was that painful.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing in this episode? Or should I try a thread on the VOY board?

You're not missing anything. It is awful ;)

That Which Survives
Trouble with Tribbles
Assignment Earth
The Cage

I confess -- I don't know episode names of TNG, DS9, Voyager or Enterprise (I know -- Tragic!!) but I did just see the episode of TNG where Dr. Pulaski, Geordi, and Data go on the holodeck in the Sherlock Holmes era.

That was "Elementary my Dear Data".

Not knowing Voyager and Enterprise that well is no great loss. But, TNG and DS9 are the masterpieces of Star Trek. Not knowing those inside and out is tragic.

And dumb.

And speaking of TNG, my re-watch is winding down. I'm up to "Thine Own Self". Another Data episode.

Watched ENT "Zero Hour" last night. Some nice stuff in there, but...

I still can't help but wince at the ending. And the total brushoff they give the Xindi. One short speech from the Unnamed Xindi Arboreal Councilor (UXAC), and they're gone.

I watched all four TNG movies in the last six days!

(That was my third viewing of Nemesis since 2002, and I'm sure it will be my final viewing. I'm even getting rid of my copy that came in the digitally remastered set.)

I watched "Ties of Blood and Water" and "Ferengi Love Songs" (both DS9, 5th season) yesterday.

I think that both episodes were quite interesting, especially the second (I really like episodes about Ferengi!). But I have to say that DS9 had got better ones which were more thought-provoking and exciting.

Had a 4 episode night last night:

Vanishing Point
Precious Cargo (Worse than A Night in Sickbay)
The Catwalk
Dawn

Cease Fire is 2 episodes away. Looking forward to seeing that one again.

TOS:

Catspaw
Mirror, Mirror
That Which Survives
The Cage
Amok Time
Assignment Earth (wish they would have made a separate series out of that one like they had intended!!)

I recently purchased the first seasons of both Voyager and Enterprise (on sale at Wal-Mart for $20 a piece!), and currently I've watched the first discs of both. Voyager's opening is surprisingly strong: I assumed it would be weak on its feet at first.

Future Tense and Canamar

Both episodes not all that terrific but the first was better than the second.

TNG The Measure of a Man

One of the TNG episodes that still manage to get me emotionally involved as if viewing them for the first time.

Next up: Contagion
