What properties or shows are you surprised nobody has rebooted?

Sure, was just saying they were a different bunch of remakes. The Brady Bunch movie came out with the early 90's remakes, along with The Beverly Hillbilly's & The Adams Family. Starksy and Hutch was one of the 2000's Stiller/Apatow/Ferrell/Todd Phillips "Frat Pack" movies.

Oh, I see. I just meant that a lof of revivals have ended up switching their styles entirely, while ones like the Brady Bunch remained fairly true to it. Turning Starsky & Hutch into more of a parody was not quite what I was expecting, and I feel that's a problem with many movie revivals of older franchises. They end up not being true to the spirit of the originals, which IMHO ends up alienating fans.

Yeah, they really did a great job with those movies, in an era when most revivals were straight out genre-twists from their original properties, such as Starsky & Hutch. The Brady Bunch movies stayed fairly true to the original.

Yeah, this one is surprising. Beyond some TV movies featuring the original cast and a bad reality TV show, there hasn't been much done with the property. I do remember watching a drama years ago about the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding the show, which was interesting. The show was super campy, but it's what makes it so ripe for something like a new movie.
Gilligan's Island occurred to me too. It's a shame Tina Louise is the last surviving original cast member, since she's the one cast member who is least likely to want to be involved with a reboot.

Because if there is one thing Hollywood is noted for, it's casting unattractive people.

There's a sketch from a movie or something where they rail on about how Molly Ringwald is not pretty enough to be a movie star, and the punch line is "Elvis fucking Presley."

I agree. Some of the reboots of shows/movies whose appeal is rooted in a historical era would be better served having the reboot set in that era. If Ben Stiller wanted to parody 70s cop dramas then the movie would have worked better with original characters.

If we're getting away from SF/Fantasy then Dirty Harry and Spencer for Hire are my two picks.

Hopefully the professor can use the suns rays amplified through the lenses to give her laser eye surgery and thus make her attractive.

And Ginger needs to apply just a little bit of blush, eyeliner, and lipstick.

Really surprised Space:1999 and UFO haven't been tried again yet. Wonder if there's an Anderson rights issue? I actually came up with a concept that combines both shows in a BSG-like reboot but I'm no writer so I haven't done anything with it. I ought to write a treatment and get it copyrighted.

There was an attempt to reboot UFO but nothing came of it. I'd love to see one. I'd set it in present day rather than 'ten years in the future' like the original and retool it to take into account everything that's happened with the whole UFO phenomenon since the original show was made such as alien abductions, 'the greys' and government cover-ups.

No one's done any of the other Irwin Allen shows like Time Tunnel or Land Of The Giants, but not sure how you could do the latter one and make it have any logic.

1000 times yes this would be so much fun if they did it properly and did it justice. The original was great but never given a chance.
I think they made an unsold Time Tunnel pilot which is an extra on the DVD/Blu-Ray box set.

I thought Starsky & Hutch should’ve copied the Brady Bunch Movie’s premise of having the main characters stuck in the 1970s, while everyone else was in the modern day.
I'd love to see a serious Starsky & Hutch film set in the 70s modelled after films like Bullit, The French Connection and Serpico.

Oh, I’d watch that in a heartbeat, but obviously a Stiller-Wilson version (which I quite enjoyed) was never going to go down that route.

I also liked the Starsky & Hutch remake but you know I don't think I ever watched the original. I am seen tons of older tv show growing up but I seemed to skip half of the cop shows. Starsky & Hutch, Mod Squard, Koljak, even the modern stuff at the time like Hill Street Blues.

IIRC, they remade Kojak with Ving Rhames. But some shows are so identified with the actor, the character so reflecting that personality, that it’s really hard to put someone else in it. To me, that was one such example. Similarly, I don’t think Steve Martin ever captured Phil Silver’s energy or ability to sell snow to Eskimos in his Sgt Bilko film. Columbo and Jim Rockford might also be examples of the original being so bound up with the actor that it’s impossible to recreate it with someone else (I think they tried to redo The Rockford Files a couple of times, once with Dermot Mulroney, which went to pilot, and once with Vince Vaughn, which never got past pre-production).
