I'd also guess that the Munsters house is repurposed for that film in those scenes as well?

Yeah, the sequel thing I agree is quite odd, and the funny thing is, I'd completely forgotten that Tom Hanks was in it as well. But I do remember liking it quite a bit despite the oddity.

There is no way I could have forgotten Hanks -- or his character's name, ye gods!! -- but I absolutely forgot Harry Morgan was in it.

The earliest example I can think of where the movie revival of a TV drama was done as a comedy is Dan Aykroyd's Dragnet from 1987. The weird thing about that was that it wasn't a remake, but a direct sequel to the TV series, complete with Harry Morgan reprising his TV role. So it purported to be in continuity with the show while still parodying it. I always found that strange.

What's weird about that is one episode from the 1987 revival, is one episode is a remake of an earlier one -- identical in many ways, yet Jack's character never even once says "I think I've solved this one before."

But do not waste your time on the 2003 "L.A. Dragnet" remake. What an insult to the original series. And that awul "The New Dragnet" -- painful to watch.
