What properties or shows are you surprised nobody has rebooted?

Given the modern preference for serialized storytelling that gradually develops a whole roster of characters, it's hard to think of a property less suited to a revival than Quantum Leap. Even The Mandalorian, the much-balleyhooed return to episodic storytelling, spent much of the second season revisiting and deepening previously established characters.

I don't think it would be that arc to build an arc into Quantum Leap, all you would need to do is build a deeper reason for the Leaping into the story. Even if you don't want to go with the idea I posted before, maybe you could do something with the people in the Leaper's present, or have each season's leaps all be connected in some way. They could be building up to some big event, or could all be based around the same person or family.

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
    Chyler Leigh was mowawk girl.

Greys Anatomy and Supergirl shows diversity and pedigree.

    Taxi Brooklyn sucked so hard.

Greg Howerton from its always sunny in Philidelphia was her love interest.

That should have been solid, and truly I didn't see anything wrong with it.

The properties that I always wanted to see rebooted have already been done--my most wished for, V, was a spectacular flop with Bionic Woman and Knight Rider also falling in that category. BSG on the other hand, I was more than happy with. And I'm really enjoying Lost in Space.

Some that I think would be interesting:
A Buck Rogers in the 25th Century reboot could have potential though. Land of the Lost also has potential as more than just a comedy. Seaquest would be very relevant today. Voyagers would fit right in on Disney Plus.

I think every SF show does an Enemy Mine riff at least once.

Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future. All of today's smart tech is just screaming for some kind of interactive TV show. And while it was considered too gritty at the time, nowadays grim and joyless genre shows are the standard, so it would be perfect.

Interesting premise without a lot of baggage.

House. It seems like someone would want to bring him back in a limited series just to see where he is today. Still on the run I guess i could maybe see him being a doctor working in Mexico or something but he returns to maybe save the life of Cuddy or something like that and some of the other characters return as well even if it's just cameos.

Really surprised Space:1999 and UFO haven't been tried again yet. Wonder if there's an Anderson rights issue? I actually came up with a concept that combines both shows in a BSG-like reboot but I'm no writer so I haven't done anything with it. I ought to write a treatment and get it copyrighted.

The technology would likely have to be completely different. From what I recall hearing, the reason it worked was in the way the UV from toys would be reflected off the screen and back onto the toy. Nowadays, screen surfaces are matted, so I don't think it would work quite the same way. They'd likely have it work with a cellphone via an app.

Otherworld has the potential, once/assuming someone ripped away the immense amount of 80’s cheese in it. The overall story would have to be planned out, though, in advance.

there was talk a some years back of a Space:1999 reboot (shou;d turn up in a forum search) or maybe it was just ideas people had.

but I don't think it's rights issue. think Jamie Anderson holds some of them now and now works with Big Finish audio.

they did a adaption of Breakaway that was released in 2019 and have 3 story box set out next month.

never seen anything about a UFO reboot.

Just to state the obvious... since we are past 1999 in real life, the story would need to be pushed back chronologically to Space:2099 or something.

They already have that, they just the dumped the outdated "TV show" part of it and kept the interactive. ;)

Or you could set it in a alternate 1999. A Watchmen style type of thing. I mean you can have fun with the premise. Focus on some characters on the moon but also have another story going on earth as earth is dealing with the effects of the moon leaving orbit. Bill Clinton is the President and one of the characters. Use a 90's musical soundtrack. Things like that.

It's been decades since saw it but wasn't there some kind of other Leapers in the final season, that wanted to stop Beckett? It is just a hazy memory.

They did pick up personal storylines from time to time, especially with Al but in general it really was the quintessential episodic show but i also wouldn't mind a rework of the concept.

Person of Interest started of as the case of the week type show and then gradually expanded its scope until it became a full blown storyline show from season 2 or 3 onwards (and was designed that way the same as Babylon 5, where you often enough only see the seeds planted for events yet to come when you rewatch the show or have a good memory).

I am extremely hesitant about reboots, especially if the original is well beloved and has become a cult classic such as Firefly. Much of it is a perfect mix of cast and writing and it is hard to get these two align so well again to become a hit.

Then again there are shows that surpass the original and become its own classic such as Battlestar Galactica. The reboot was fantastic in its early seasons and then kind of lost it along the way when it was about time to resolve the million mysteries and questions that were built up ( Lost had the same problem).
