Going back to the early 70s I thought the whole thing was laughable. In my view it's a distinction without a difference.

Trekkie is fine with me. Like someone said earlier, a "Trekker" is just a "Trekkie" who's afraid to admit it.

I'm the type that spends two hours on a Sunday writing a post casting J.J. Abrams' Star Trek: The Next Generation reboot. :D

I'm also the type of Trekkie who makes polls on the Trek BBS. :)

I'm the sort of Trekkie who takes time out from writing Trek novels to argue about Trek on the internet.

    How sad is that? :)

None. For you, it could be seen as work-related research. You're burning the midnight oil, keeping that nose to the grindstone. ;)

And I too will someday be paid for this, my love, and all my postings and passions will be tax deductible.. just in time for the future when there is no money.

Looks like TrekBBS is made up mostly of series viewers and those who read up on it with the hardcore in third. Kinda what I expected.

    A and B mostly, with a pinch of C.

I recently caught myself staring at one of our own Rick Sternbach's auctions on eBay, so... yeah. Bit of C for sure.

If "none of above" means I'm not a trekkie, then so be it.

I don't know if I've said it before, but I always thought the Trekkie/Trekker thing was a little silly. In one of the specials, I don't remember which, Roddenberry pronounced it "Trekkor." There's another one to muddy the water.

I hate the word Trekkie. I don't know much about these days but back in the 80s it seemed to be the media's chosen word to be derogatory about fans. As to what kind of fan I am: I've certainly passed my heyday when I was very active in fandom. I went to cons for over 25 years, on con committees, that kind of thing. I pretty much lived Trek for 20 years. These days I'm pretty much in retirement. I've put my feet up and I'm happy watching the young uns. I've pretty much gafiated. :).

I own all the series first DVD boxes collection, even TAS, and all the movies (classic and JJ's).

My night book is almost always a Star Trek Novel (like, 2 out of 3), that's how I stay connected to it.
