Motion Picture - could a movie get more boring?!?

Insurrection does, which is why it gets my vote despite the fact that I have numerous problems with its follow-up, Nemesis.

I can appreciate Nemesis and (especially) The Motion Picture more with repeated viewings. The Final Frontier I enjoy both because it was the first Trek film I saw theatrically and because I can laugh at parts of the film that aren't supposed to be funny. Gives it that MST3K-type of experience, so there's still some fun to be had. Insurrection puts me to sleep during the CLIMAX..... the portion of the film that should be the most exciting! Picard's scenes with Anij are pretty boring, as well.

I mean, I can understand nothing happening with Kirk, he's her captain, Spock was kind of a mentor and McCoy was probably too old.

I never saw Spock as Uhura's mentor, nor did I ever see any chemistry between them, mind you. But why should McCoy be too old for her but Scotty isn't? Aren't they both of the same age? At least Doohan and Kelley shared the same year of birth (1920), so I'd assume that applies to the characters as well.

But I could have seen her easily getting with Scotty or Chekov or Sulu.
Yes, I remember some scenes with especially Sulu that could be interpreted in a romantic way - and could have been built on in a movie. Scotty and Uhura just seemed too much out of the blue to be credible.

Spock and Uhura bantered a bit in early TOS eps. 'The Man Trap' and 'Charlie X' come to mind. But I don't really see a mentor/student relationship there. With Chekov, perhaps.

Regarding Sulu/Uhura, there was Mirror Sulu's fascination with Uhura... I don't know, I always thought Scotty/Uhura was kind of sweet.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Nichelle Nichols thought there was a kind of mentor/student thing going there. It might have been a deleted scene or something she's referring to. I guess you got a point there though. lol

As bad as Nemesis was, it has to be TFF, a truly fcuking awful film under any circumstances. By Trek standards, it was so much worse.

The Director's cut of TFF should have most footage taken out.

TFF is definitely the worst of the 11 films currently made. It was poorly made, very unimaginative, and worst of all...made zero sense. Furthermore, I did not like the way William Shatner directed the film at all. I think that if Leonard Nimoy had directed, maybe the movie would have turned out better. Just a thought.

After yesterday's big TV marathon of Star Trek, I'm gonna have to revise my position.... although, obviously, not my vote.

Nemesis is the worst, trailed VERY closely by Insurrection.

final frontier...I just rewatched all the treks recently and remember thinking wow this ones pretty cheesy, didn,t Shatner direct that one?

Nemesis, followed by The Motion Picture. Not that I hate them with a passion or something, but.... meh.

Yeah, I'm kind of the same way. I don't really hate any of the films. I can watch any of them and still find some strong positive elements, but TMP and Nemesis are definitely the weakest of the lot.

For me, it was a toss-up betwenn The Final Frontier and Nemesis, but I had to go with Nemesis. Nemesis should have been subTitled "I'm tired of doing Star Trek films, and just want it to end."

Nemesis's tagline should have been "I think I can... I think I can... I think I can..."

But, no. It couldn't.

I went with Insurrection - it has the least appeal for me for repeat viewing, and that was my criteria. There were some cool things in it, I suppose, but for me the plot wasn't very movie-worthy.

For the record, my other candidates for worst were Generations, The Final Frontier, and Nemesis

I am suprised that Nemesis is doing so badly in this poll. Despite it's flaws, I enjoyed Nemesis as a movie experience. The Final Frontier is obviously number two, which it deserves.

What of insurrection? That movie was completely horrible. For all of Nemesis's problems, at least there wasn't a stupid joystick coming out of the floor, or Picard, Data, and Worf singing a musical number.

For goodness sake, Insurrection gave us the line "have you noticed how your boobs are firming up?"

How can Nemesis even get near that level of stupidity?

TMP also deserves to be higher up there, what with its 90 minutes of flying into psychadelic paintings.

Insurrection. I just dont think it was film material, it would have worked better as a 2 part episode. But all in all I've enjoyed all the star trek movies in some way or another, I didnt dislike any of them. TMP comes a close second.
