While we're discussing order, here's mine from best to worst:
The Voyage Home
The Search for Spock
Generations
The Undisocvered Country
First Contact
The Motion Picture
The Wrath of Khan
The Final Frontier
Nemesis

Today...I could change my mind.

INSURRECTION at least tried to make us care about the Ba'ku and their characters. Gave Picard an emotional attachment to Anij that seemed to last for a while after the movie ended. NEMESIS gave us nothing but effects, 'splosions and bald guys with bad attitudes.

Now that both the BEST TREK FILM poll and the WORST TREK FILM poll have been around awhile, I thought it would be fun to summarize stuff about them.
As of April 28, 2009, at the time I am posting this:

Best Film Poll:
1. ST2 33 votes
2. ST6 19 votes
3. TMP 18 votes
4. FC 13 votes
5. ST4 5 votes
6. Tie: Gen, Ins, Nem, 1 vote each
9. Tie: ST3, ST5 0 votes each

Worst Film Poll:
1. Nem 60 votes
2. ST5 43 votes
3. Ins 19 votes
4. Gen 13 votes
5. TMP 10 votes
6. FC 4 votes
7. ST2 3 votes
8. ST4 2 votes
9. Tie: ST3, ST6 0 votes each

Movie with the strongest showing on both polls:
TMP has received 18 votes for Best Film and 10 votes for Worst Film.

Weakest showing in both polls:
ST3 has received NO votes for Best nor Worst.

Most popular Odd-numbered movie on the Best Film poll:
TMP with 18 votes.
No other odd-numbered movie has received more than one vote.

Most disliked Even-numbered movie on the Worst film poll:
Nem, with 60 votes.
A distant second is FC with 4 votes.

Biggest surprise (to me, that is):
In the Best Film poll, FC comes in 4th. I had expected 2nd.

And just for the heck of it, here is the popularity of the movies from the Best Film poll, charted in Excel so that one can witness the old odd/even pattern:

I'm surprised TMP got such a high score in the "BEST" rating.

Definitely NO surprise that Nemesis was the top 'o the list on the WORST. It boggles my mind how anybody could produce something so :censored: and even have a career afterward.

NEM for me, easily. As bad as I find TFF to be, I still enjoy parts of it. I honestly didn't enjoy a single moment in NEM.

i voted insurrection but it was a toss-up with nemesis. I think the decent space battle in nemesis is more rewatchable than the stupid flight yoke.

I can't stand First Contact. The Borg are such utterly boring characters.
Technically, they're not supposed to BE characters. Where FC fucked up was making them have a personality, not just be an unstoppable, remorseless, alien force that does care about politics or ideaology or individuality.

I never cared for the Borg as villains....I always wished for a great film with the Romulans as the baddies..as much as I love the Klingons, and love the fact that they've developed such an interesting culture and even a language, I always thought the Romulans were more interesting...Klingons are a tad predictable and not very deep...Nemesis blew the opportunity, and I hope that Star Trek works out...you know, the Romulans were supposed to be the baddies in Search for Spock originally...oh well

I'm watching Nemesis right now as #10 in my "Watch 10 Trek Movies in 2 Days" marathon. I can barely stomach it, and I'm being honest, and not trying to disrespect people who love the movie. I just can't. It goes against the grain of everything I know and believe about the characters, the universe they live in, and events that transpire.

J, what are you, a glutton for punishment? ;)

Apparently!
Well, I made it through and shut the DVD off very, very quickly. I've seen all 10 movies in 2 days, and now I'm primed for the Trek XI movie. Of course, in that time, I've had to rethink some of my positions on a few movies. For example, TMP moved up to #3 from #7. Not bad, really. Surprisingly, First Contact moved down one from #4 to #6. Which means my current tally is:

1) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
2) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
3) Star Trek: The Motion Picture
4) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
5) Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
6) Star Trek: First Contact
7) Star Trek III: The Search For Spock
8) Star Trek: Generations
9) Star Trek: Insurrection
10) Star Trek: Nemesis

Congrats on making it through! Sanity intact?

It's a little reassuring to see someone rank TFF as their number one. It's not mine, but it's still underrated. :)
