I'm trying to stretch it out but I'm getting really close to the end. And wow - so freaking good. I had high expectations for the game and it's definitely met them. Also before release I wondered why all these articles were popping up about fast travel in the game and how great it was. My thought was "who cares?! swinging around the city is much of the fun" and I almost forgot to try it when I did unlock the option (probably wouldn't have if I hadn't read the articles) and holy cow - fast travel really is amazing. IDK how you make something like that even remotely interesting but it is. It's set a standard on fast travel that other games are going to be hard pressed to meet and due to the way Spider Man's mechanics are I'm not sure all of them can meet it. Also... combining web wings seamlessly with swinging is such a blast. It reminds me of how EA did the very end of Jedi Fallen Order when the sword stances were almost predictive of what the player wanted. That was one bit from the first game that felt great when Cal finally unleashed his inner Jedi.
^ Yeah it's a really great game, I had so much fun with it. Plus it looks absolutely stunning. Even though I usually prefer performance vs visual fidelity, this game looks so much prettier in Fidelity mode. Plus it runs amazing in an 120fps container with VRR (so it's basically between 40 and 50fps). And yeah, the fast travel is insanely cool. Now I don't know what to play next. I don't really have a desire to go back to Starfield and I'm already bored of Forza Motorsport. So I might just get AC: Mirage or maybe Baldur's Gate 3. Either that, or I'll try to reduce my backlog.
40fps is my go-to now. I'm undecided whether to get Spiderman 2. I might pick up a secondhand copy down the line. Is it fairly straightforward to jump into if I haven't played the original or Miles Morale?
^ Yeah it really sucks that so few titles outside of Sony first-party studios support 40fps. To be honest, the only title I can think of right now is A Plague Tale: Requiem. Hmm... I personally think it would be a good idea if you played the original and MM before playing the second one. However there's a short little recap of the first two games at the beginning of SM2. So I don't think you'll have any trouble if you just play SM2. SM1 and MM are both excellent games and definitely worth playing, especially the PS5 versions which both support ray tracing.
Rotating between a few at the moment. I've just started Little Nightmares 2 for the spoopy season. I've also been playing The Last of Us 2, FINALLY, and am pretty close to the end. Ugh, it's such a great game. I'm doing a Baldur's Gate 3 co-op playthrough with my other half but haven't played that in about a week or so. Act 3 really takes it out of you, lol.
I uploaded my first Oblivion mod today so if you have the game installed check it out. The most enjoyable part was creating parchments and books with new content and the next one is going to be more of the same with Tamriel lore mixed with Monty Python/Discworld/Monkey Island humour. https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/53525/
You can jump in *but* I'd by the Miles Morales/Spider-Man Remastered bundle and play those first. The stories are connected and will have more meaning if you play the others first. Not so much that I think you'll be lost to the point that it would effect your enjoyment or anything but things do follow one another and the Miles bundle is a good deal for games that still look and play really well. And on the Spider Man 2 topic - why the hell am I seeing videos calling it 'woke?' I played the entire game - every side quest. The only reason it's not a platinum clear is that I don't have a couple of random achievements (stuff like use x skill 25 times) and there's nothing 'woke' about it. I don't want to give these idiots clicks because I already get enough conservative whining from just having an interest in games but I am curious if anyone knows what the complaint is or if this is like the guy who got mad that Starfield let you choose pronouns in the character creation.
Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for the bundle. @BigFoot - also thank you. I jumped to the bottom and missed your post. I don't know anything about Spidey 2 being woke. The term seems to be lazily used in reference to anything with LGBTQ+ representation in it.
This kind of shit happens every time a new big budget game comes out. I have to wonder which section of gamers has this loud screaming group or sre they just Interlopers getting on the bandwagon. These kind of loud voices to ne always presents an image of gamers as whiny and entitled..
It's the Miles Morales Ultimate Ed https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP9000-PPSA01411_00-MARVELSSMMDDE000 You get Spider-Man Remastered+Miles Morales + DLC from the first game for basically the price of one game.
Honestly, I'm not sure. People sure love to complain about everything and nothing. But yeah, I totally agree with you.
So I started playing Weird West last night and it's turned out to be pretty addictive. Probably one of the more perfect subscription type games because it's something I wouldn't necessarily buy for myself because of the format being a bit different from games I normally play but because it was on the sub and I didn't have a game lined up, I tried and so far am really enjoying it.
Installed Fallout NV on the steam deck just to see how it ran, now 20 hours into a new game......so much for a quick test. Lol
The one thing that annoyed me about that game was the Legion's patrols that you could encounter early in the game after setting off away from Goodsprings. As they were fairly high level, you wouldn't want to encounter them so early on as they could easily kill you. I had some difficulty to get going because of that.
Yeah you need to roam about that area first and grind up a bit at the beginning, that way lt will make life a little eaiser later on in the game. But it looks and runs great on the deck, i would bite their hands off for a modern remake of NV and F3. :-)
