What do you do with your porn?

I for one prefer amateur porn, and not the kind of porn that claims to be amateur porn but is made by porn studios. I'm talking about the stuff made by couples with a camcorder. That shit is hot!

You mean real amateur porn like Bangbus?

Does anybody download/buy/rent porn NOT to jerk off with it though? Does it have other uses?

For one, it's used to objectify and degrade people.

What do you think your religion does?

Porn makes me appreciate the human body, not be ashamed of it.

In the defence of religion, it does give as the most important aspect of human life...public holidays. We have yet to receive a porn based holiday, like the Dirty Sanchez long weekend.

Taking a stand against immoral sex of any kind is not objectifying or degrading anyone. It's attempting to help society. Porn does not do this.

No, not like Bangbus, where the guys are jerks and do stuff like shove remote controls up chick's asses, lol. I'm talking about stuff that people have done themselves and uploaded to the internet. You know, REAL reality porn.

^^ Porn helps society. It produces jobs that pay their workers money, who in turn buy other goods and services to create economic activity. So if you buy more porn the shorter the recession will be, I guarantee* it.

*Warning guarantee void in the universe and all alternate dimensions

Bah, real reality porn is terrible. The production values are crap, it looks like they shot the entire thing with a crap camera in a badly lit bedroom. I demand production values with my (fake) reality porn!

Re: What other uses for porn are there besides the obvious?

A lot of people here, and a lot of people out in the world downloads porn or buys/rents porn, or you know someone who does. What is its use for you? Why have a porn collection? What does everyone do with their porn!?!?

Are there other uses besides the obvious?

Greg Land uses porn to "draw" comic books.

Please define immoral sex.

And of course, shall we not bring up all the other ways religion objectifies or degrades people?

I don't like production values in my porn. I also get nothing from porn that's filmed outside. :)

Porn does objectify men and women. To deny that is to deny the whole purpose of porn, visual stimulation leading to sexual release. The problem I have with this is the issue of extreme objectification, when women become simply "a great set of tits", or men become "a nice piece of ass". When we stop thinking about human beings as human beings and more as toys or objects for our amusement. Look at the state of porn as it is today; Softcore porn? That's just nudity, that doesn't even qualify as porn anymore. Magazines like Playboy aren't porn magazines, they're fantasies on how much we can airbrush the human body and keep it looking somewhat human.

Hardcore/XXX porn is now the standard. It's the ground floor. No, the real moneymaker is in the niche porn. The men and women who are humiliated and we draw sexual energy off that humiliation, brutalized porn where men and women are beaten down, even as an act, and we draw sexual energy from those acts of brutality. This is the porn that had made its way into the mainstream, that has taken over, that has become the norm. This is the objectification of the human body and disregard for the human soul (whether real or metaphorical). When human beings become nothing more than pieces of meat for our perusal and approval.

On the other side, pornography lets us express our deepest, darkest fantasies in the safety of our own homes. The industry makes billions of dollars a year, and is growing. Society has always had porn, in some fashion, and always will as long as the human sex drive is as potent as it is. I'm not saying take away porn, far from it. Porn does provide some useful outlets for a lot of people, that harms no one when done correctly and in moderation.

Now, that being said, I have a problem with how porn affects our society. We are a visual, visceral culture, and we derive our pleasures not just from physical acts, but the viewing of those acts. It's why television, movies and other media are so popular. We can place ourselves in these situations and become a part of something greater than ourselves, or experience a new sensation we've never felt before. It's a part of who we are, and that too hasn't changed in thousands of years. The problem is that at some point, art imitates life, imitates art. We're starting to get the feedback from what we've been watching, and it's creeping into our lives.

I do get concerned when I see little girls wearing clothes that say "Juicy" on the backs of their pants. I get bothered when I see teen males referring to their girlfriends/wives as "hoes", "bitches", "cunts", and are told to "suck my dick" and "fuck you, bitch" as a part of general conversation when in the company of others. It's degrading, it's humiliating, and it's becoming the cultural norm. We're becoming cold, we're getting to the point where we treat each other like the next sexual conquest. I see it in every day life. Forget television, that's a fantasy world, but people don't realize this or many people aren't able to discern the difference, hence 'reality' TV that is anything but reality.

This all stems from what we see and what we emulate, and that is something that needs to change. We need to reverse this trend before we really do end up as nothing more than a XXX culture.

Interesting points, J. However, I can't see your case for keeping porn around when so many of the performers have similar backgrounds as either abused or molested children, and so many of them either end up dead or with disease. It's really sad for them and for their families.

What gives you the right to censure anything?

True, there are quite a few porn stars who had broken homes, terrible parents, were abused emotionally and physically, but there are so many more who come from such origins who didn't go into porn. It's the choices we make as we get older. For some people doing a porn shoot is no different than taking a temp job. It's a stepping stone to something better, or at least, that's what they hope. Porn sells, and there's money in it if you're willing to strip naked and have sex with a stranger for money (which is, ironically, what you do as a prostitute yet that's illegal).

I look at it as something that will always exist. Human nature craves it, and, men in particular are visually stimulated by it. Personally, I believe if we would adopt healthy attitudes toward nudity and sex, and educate our children on what the impact these things have on our lives, maybe it would improve. People seek out porn to fill a need. What is that need? For some, it's just a quick physical high, for others who are lonely, it is a bandage on a much more serious ailment. There are a myriad of reasons to go along with the myriad choices of porn.

I have always believed in the old axiom "everything in moderation", and I believe Jesus lived by that as well. Drink wine, but only in moderation. Play and have fun, but only in moderation. Work hard, but only in moderation. Life is about balances. I believe the existence of porn shows a loss of balance that we unfortunately will never bring to balance, at least not as we currently exist. It is a fixture of our culture. The major problem I have is that it's becoming a pillar of our culture, and that is not good, regardless of how you view porn (no pun intended).
