Season 1 for me. Since I finished it before watching the cliffhanger/premiere two-parter, Season 2 is great as well, giving us one of the best comedy stories in the mainline entries ("Those Old Scientists"), the opening of the Rah storyline, Una on trial and the further return of the proper Klingons in the wake of Worf's return in Picard season 3, but it does have an achilles' heel in "Subspace Rhapsody"*, the overhyped, overrated musical that kicked off the influx of shameless gimmick plots that would plague the show in its third season. Season 1 features great standalone stories, solid overarching subplots, and one of my favourite Trek stories in the excellently sad "Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach".

That's OK. I didn't care for Those Old Scientists. And I usually love the SNW comedic episodes.

In the entire run of SNW to date, the only SNW comedy episode I dislike more is S3's A Space Adventure Hour.

I loved SNW S2 Subspace Rhapsody and I'm normally not a fan when a non music series does a 'musical episode'. When it was announced that they were doing it, I thought I'd hate it but I didn't.

Kind of sobering, too, to see that there’s not a single vote for season three. Yikes.

I'm really shocked at the results. Normally diversity in choices is normal in Star Trek just because it attracts such a diverse crowd. You normally see some variation. But this is pretty damning.

I voted S2 narrowly over S1. S2 took bigger swings. S1 was less risky in some ways. Apt to have less misses but I think S2 has more episodes I thought were home runs, or at least triples: Ad Astra Per Aspera, Those Old Scientists, Hegemony, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, Charades.

I‘m less surprised that we have someone vote for season three after all, but that it took almost two months since the inception of this thread for it to happen.

But also, the fact that the third season isn‘t the favorite of many does of course not mean it’s bad. Heck, it gave us “Terrarium”, which is one of my favorite episodes. So despite everything, it’s a-okay in my book.

Kind of like the third season of TOS.

I would never rate the third season of TOS my favorite season. However I would rewatch it over TNG seasons 1 and 2, 6 snd 7; DS9 seasons 1 and 2, the entirety of VOY. ENT seasons 1 and 2; ST: D Seasons 3-5; and PIC seasons 1 and 2.

season 2 is my favourite so far. Some really high highs. Ad Astra Per Aspera is fantastic, one of the best episodes of the Kurtzman era i think. Some other really good ones. Those Old Scientists, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. Under the Cloak of War. I also liked the musical. It was a bold experiment, but it paid off for me . I think they leaned into the comedic episodes too much in season 3 though
