Was Chakotay/Seven really that bad?

It's a fling, 7 of 9 is not the type to settle. They probably split up shortly after reaching the alpha quadrant.

A fling, I don't know but an experience for both sides, for sure. And yes, there is a strong probability that the couple parts quickly after to have reached Earth.
And then, let's not forget that, because of their respective past, neither Chakotay, as an ex-Maquis leader, or Seven as an ex-Borg, should be welcomed with open arms by the Federation and Starfleet. Result: between interviews in front of commissions of inquiries to answer questions about their past activities, their placement under observation in order to gauge their dangerousness (especially Seven) and their loyality (especially Chakotay) to the Federation's principles, I guess that the couple risks to spend a lot of time apart, what will allow them to come to their senses.

Really not having some kind of live action follow-up to Voyager, even a TV movie, was such a wasted opportunity, IMO, but guess Voy. fans might have to make do with the pro post-Nemesis novels, and also (in a different way) Star Trek Online. Well besides, of course, Admiral Janeway's canon appearance in the TNG: Nemesis movie (2002).

The original writer left it open to be undone.

in the novel where she died she appeared with Q...we knew right away that meant she was coming back.
That novel was hilarious, the plot was like a huge joke

Borg eating Pluto! Janeway was a Primadonna Borg Queen

I've said this before. I think the powers that be for Voyager didn't resolve anything perhaps because they couldn't please everyone. So they chose to please no one.

@Nyotarules , Well I guess that settles once and for all...
Whether Pluto is a planet or not, after Janeway it's just gone.

Kristen Beyer has actually done a really good job with the books. She has done a great job at capturing the characters, the plots are interesting and she's even integrated open ended stories from episodes into the novels.

What did you think of Christie Golden? I used to read SW books, including "Fate of the Jedi" of which Golden wrote 3 out of 9, and really liked them. I've never read any Trek books except the first few chapters of "Homecoming." I had to put it down due to excessive internal groaning.

I liked some of her earlier novels but wasn't super thrilled with the Homecoming books and the ones after that. I never felt that she accurately captured the characters.

To each their own, I liked it
I thought it was a page-turner with an interesting plot and I really liked the story (SPOILER /sorry, no idea how to produce that blue spoiler sign/ the eating of Pluto by the Borg was a little too much for me too but apart from that it was an exciting novel, I thought).
However, I really hated that SPOILER they killed off Janeway, so for this reason I hated the whole book.

I've loved all the Star Trek Voyager books I've read by her so far. To me she was the one who captured the real Voyager crew and the real Voyager feeling - a lot better than Kirsten Beyer (IMO Beyer's book are action-packed, rather than creating TV show VOY feeling). My fav Christie Golden books are the DARK MATTERS trilogy, that was good with the Romulans and Telek R'More from the episode EYE OF THE NEEDLE and all that.

Off topic but are those Star Wars books any good? I thought that after the New Jedi Order series (SPOILER with the Yuuzhan Vong who were really scary and I thought a very good enemy since even the Force had no effect on them) the quality of the books started to go downhill ...

use square brackets instead of round brackets.

(spoiler=) the = is necessary and there's no space between the = and the ) or it won't work. (/spoiler)

the = is necessary and there's no space between the = and the ] or it won't work.

Oh, so even though the sign only says "Spoiler", I have to use the word in the plural? I would never have come to this conclusion.
Let me try this, then.

[spoilers=]Star Trek Voyager totally rocks![/spoilers]

OK.
Let me try this again.
Interestingly enough, those who don't like Janeway's hair never find fault with Picard's or Sisko's hair.

The dark matter books are among my favorites

The Pluto thing is what made me stop reading the Voyager novels. If I wanted a cartoon or comic, I'd go find one.

I expected better of the novels.
