It's nice to see a brother/sister type relationship instead of the usual "will they or won't they" sexual tension. Too many shows do the former and that gets old after awhile. It's nice to get something different.

That's one of the things I like about the current batch of shows-- even Eureka has added a pinch of Steampunk.
And it cracks me up to see shows not aimed at cranky juveniles described as "fluffy."

Well, honestly, if you don't like steampunk, bizarre historical artifacts, and healthy doses of silly, this might not be the show for you. It's not supposed to be a straightforward, deadly-serious science fiction show. It's meant to be offbeat and whimsical.
Me, I love the idea that Sylvia Plath's typewriter can make you lose the will to live . . . or that the original "can of beans" is locked away in the Warehouse.
Some of the artifacts are pretty silly to me, especially ones from historical people who were never associated with fringe science or the supernatural. For example, why in the world would Jack Kirby's belt make you into a superhero? It didn't do shit for him except keep his pants up.

(And, of course, Kirby's belt turned out to be a red herring. It was really Charles Atlas's trunks that gave you powers.)
After a few minutes of the pilot, I wasn't watching Warehouse 13 for straightforward and deadly-serious. I was watching for some laughs and light hearted action fun.
What I'm saying is, I don't find it very funny. The whimsy has no delight. Whereas the goofy science on Eureka still does, which I think is because the whole retro appeal in Warehouse 13's steampunk vibe strikes me, very hard, as lame.
I wonder if they'll make more Smallville jokes?
I hope it's only temporary. The dynamic between Pete and Myka is one of the things that made the show. Not that I have any issue with this new guy (never even seen him before), but I hope that they bring back Myka at some point, even if they keep this guy.
I hope Myka hasn't really left. I thought that was just a cliffhanger.

Gret Mojo indeed! Shame it didn't work...
Maybe they're going for slash? That's a very fruitful strategy for attracting a female audience, just look at Supernatural. But they need to be more careful with the casting, I don't think either of the guys are good slash fodder, and for slash to work, they've got to both work. It's all about the chemistry.

If they wanted slash, they could have gone with Myka and HG. Those two had some chemistry together.
I seriously doubt that Myka's gone. They would have announced if Joanne Kelly had left. It's just a storyline, one I hope that's resolved quickly because it's the dynamic between her and Pete that really holds the show together. Seeing Pete with a new partner will be interesting but hopefully won't last too long.
I don't know why they're adding another cast member though...the cast is terrific and this feels like they're just adding a fifth wheel.
