I saw an interview with Chinese American actress Chloe Bennet about casting for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. "The producers didn't know I was Chinese, they already had a Chinese, so if I wasn't passing for white in my audition, Marvel definitely wouldn't have hired me, because having two Chinese actresses in the same American TV Show, is a bit much."

The Writers Room made up their mind half way though season one, but then they had to wait a year for the nod, from Marvel. Hmm? Where is she now? Oh, oh! I actually already put Interior China Town on my list of things to do yesterday. I just have to block out season one of Mindy Project first, but I didn't like how that made Mr. Hyde Sympathetic after he gave Jarvis a limp.

I hated Picard season 3, too, but this situation is completely different. There is no 30 year old cast to reunite, no decades of popular lore to reference and I highly doubt Matalas had an old fanfic about Vision having conversations with Ultron inside his head laying around in a desk. He's not even getting a free hand for creating new characters because he's working the MCU machine mostly using already established characters and anyone new who shows up will still have to be approved by Feige so that they don't screw up future plans.

The only thing worth worrying about here is the basic execution of the storytelling, but even then 1 bad season doesn't prove he's incompetent and he's still not making the show by himself anyway.

Most importantly, Vision is not the MCU. He's a single character who's almost never had serious focus and who has only a small stable of actually meaningful connections to the rest of the MCU. There is zero cause to expect a string of surprise appearances by Steve Rogers/Peter Parker/Groot/Peggy Carter, etc or some silly plot about Vision having to finish Tony's work taking down the 10 rings.

Well...about that last part. Faran Tahir is returning as Raza but we don't know in what capacity.

Otherwise, I agree with you. The trailers have all made it clear that the focus is on Vision exploring his very nature as well as (re)connecting with Tommy. Most of the nostalgia will be the variety of AIs from over the years, but the only returning actors in that entire group* are Paul Bettany and James Spader (yes, James D'Arcy is returning, too, but this is the first time as the AI). At best, the only surprise appearances will be Agatha and Billy and maaaaybe Wanda. Hell, I think there's a better chance for a surprise appearance from Jennifer Connelly as Karen than Wanda appearing, but I'll be happy to be wrong.

*Still bummed Kerry Condon isn't returning but Orla Brady is a worthy replacement.

Jim Hammond is what set my radar off. He was originally an Easter egg in Captain America The First Avenger. A character,who in the MCU, has no connection to Vision outside of being a synthetic Being. Of course we've no idea if J.I.M. Is the same synthezoid we saw in CA:TFA

so how this is folded in to Vision's backstory remains to be seen.

Perhaps but their inclusion feels natural (regardless of their lack of known connection to Vision) so I'm not worried about it.
