Here are some screenshotsWhee! I'm interested in dorsal shots: I'd like to count the saucertop doodads, phasers, hatches, whatnot.
Classic three-way is always welcome, too.

Your theory would would mean those displays for made for Season 1, not 2. But we didn't see them in Season 1, only Season 2.The producers absolutely messed this one up...the Eaves concept one was going to be the Enterprise in Discovery as evidence by the fact that a significant amount of work had already gone into making displays and infographics for the show that show the straight pylon version.
It was the proverbial 11th hour decision that changed her into the Phase 1.5 version we have

I think the art team were just given the wrong assets or used the wrong assets.

thank the stars they did the angled pylons looks way better than the straight one
I hate to disagree, because I absolutely love the TOS Enterprise, but in terms of design lineage, she's definitely the "odd man out". If you put the "Discoprise" with its slanted pylons between the NX-01 and the refit Constitution, it definitely works to show a solid lineage. They do look nice, but they don't fit the lineage. I'm glad they didn't go 100% TOS. Too 60's for me. But the straight pylons would've made much more sense, even with the split. They could've left the angled pylons for the TMP refit as before.

Sad when something that was a franchise cornerstone no longer has a place in the franchise it helped make famous.
I liked the TOS Enterprise, but it was designed with 1960's TV quality in mind.
Nice angle, unfortunately it is really the only one that reminds me of the original.
I've never said that it should've been brought forward to Discovery completely unchanged. The fact that I embrace the earlier Eaves version should tell people that. The version we see may fit better in the "design lineage" but it loses what makes it special.
Moving forward, we've lost a bit of history on our TV screens. To some folks, that is no big deal. To me, it is just the same as completely tossing the Enterprise-D or Deep Space Nine. Settings that made the shows feel unique.
And they're really minor changes when you think about them.
I would argue that the "Discoprise" was very much designed to look like an intermediate step between the NX and the refit.I still think the Discoprise looks more like the odd man out simply because it was designed to look more like the refit Enterprise. Instead of having the natural progression from the Enterprise to the Refit.

Still a lovely ship. For me, the 1st Eaves version still has those windows I don't like, but I don't really get upset about any of the changes. I do scratch my head a little as to why those changes were made. Not sure anyone really knows one way or the other.
And they're really minor changes when you think about them. Angled pylons, a row of windows/lights, light nacelle grilles, a bigger impulse engine section.
This angle is another good one, but darker. Again, might as well be the TOS E with a better looking skin.

This one is cool too. It shows the torpedo tubes like we never saw them on TOS, plus the lower phasers.

Nothing will ever change that either. To me, the TOS version is the NCC-1701, anything else is just a pretender to the throne.
