USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

It actually wasn't. At least by the person that created it. He originally gave us the straight pylon version. The change was made by the production team.
It goes far beyond just the pylons. The nacelles would not look out of place on the NX class. The hull colouring, torpedo tubes, and the overall aesthetic are all very "NX". What Eaves initially designed, doesn't matter in the long run. The producers obviously settled on something that clearly ties into the "previous" Enterprise.

Not by the person that actually designed it. Someone changed it after the fact. The proof is some photos made it out showing Martin-Green standing in front of a display that has the original Eaves version on it. Complete with lighter color.

The thing that kills me is that they are that worried about lining up with a show that was a ratings/critical disaster all in the name of canon.

See, those are the things I have no problem with, the coloring being more metallic, the NX-like nacelles, both very nice updates that make more sense for higher quality TV screens.

The torpedoes came out of that area on the bottom, as did the phasers, so no reason not to add those details, again, because HD. You would never have seen those torpedo tubes (or the phaser banks) in the late 60's, so no reason to have them there.

Some things literally had to be changed/added because that level of detail has come to be an expectation. Whatever went on with the pylons, that's another thing.

They do look nice, but they don't fit the lineage. I'm glad they didn't go 100% TOS. Too 60's for me. But the straight pylons would've made much more sense, even with the split. They could've left the angled pylons for the TMP refit as before.
They're deliberately ignoring the lineage. Hence the new look for everything.

That's pretty much my view.

I did love how in the "Aftermath" comic, the artist kept going back and forth between the TOS and Discovery versions of the Enterprise.

Well, that would explain the interior visuals in Ephraim & Dot: The Enterprise is a Transformer that can switch between the TOS version and the DSC version at will. Continuity issues solved! :D

It's most likely. Full refits like in TMP are functional refits, not just design ones. Also there's quantum storage tech as seen in Picard. The Disco style bridge/ship of the Enterprise was ready to reassert itself on command even throughout TOS for all we know.

Just because the quantum storage tech exists in 2399 doesn't mean it also exists in 2265
