USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

the enterprise shows up in walmart's super bowl 2020 spot:

looking really slick.

and slightly less slick...

I just hate how dark their special effects are. Even in good pictures, it is hard to make out the details.

I think the scene was a little brighter, but my screencap came out dark. Plus it wasn't as HD as it was supposed to be.

Maybe the blu-ray will look better.

"The TOS Enterprise is no longer canon!" is probably echoing across Trekdom as we speak.

Yeah...right.
:shifty:

"Discovery takes place in an alternate timeline"

"It's not the prime timeline"

I cant wait for the die hards to now claim that Picard doesn't take place in the "true" timeline

You know, if they ever make new Trek in the era of the TOS crew movies, I imagine they'll make adjustments to the uniforms and update the ships.

In my "head canon," I imagine these conflicting looks as both simultaneously valid interpretations of an underlying "text."
