I've made no secret of the fact I prefer the TOS version of the Enterprise 1701 but that GIF is about as beautiful and TOS-like as this version's ever looked.

This angle from Such Sweet Sorrow Pt.1 was pure TOS in that you couldn't see the angled pylons or the top of the saucer windows, or even the massive impulse deck.

I just hate how dark their special effects are. Even in good pictures, it is hard to make out the details.

I think the scene was a little brighter, but my screencap came out dark. Plus it wasn't as HD as it was supposed to be.

Maybe the blu-ray will look better.

So it's hard canon now

Unfortunately a lot of things in DSC are poorly lit.

You know, if they ever make new Trek in the era of the TOS crew movies, I imagine they'll make adjustments to the uniforms and update the ships.

In my "head canon," I imagine these conflicting looks as both simultaneously valid interpretations of an underlying "text."
