Any idea why people in non-Canadian Commonwealth countries pluralize maths? I ask, because it's always singular in the States: math. (Can't speak for Canada, though.)

Oh, I see: maths is an abbreviation of mathematics. Yeah, mathematics is always plural here in the States. Here the abbreviation of mathematics is math.

I always assumed it stood for more then one type of math. So geometry, trig, calculus, etc..made math a plural, maths..which makes sense that way.
Tho when I was a kid, I didn't know the term TARDIS stood for what it was. Based on my childlike assessment, I just went off the atributes..
