Unseen TOS....

Despite my inclinations I assured my sister it was highly unlikely there would be a massive Montreal Canadiens logo or huge pic of the starship Enterprise on my bedroom or living room walls. I don’t need a mancave.

The den, though, where my computer will be and where I’ll be doing my 3D modelling… Hmm…

I CANNOT believe what just happened!

In the process of me transferring my things to my new home and my sister overseeing my mother’s house being cleared out my sister let them take and throw away my perfectly good 2011 21.5 iMac that I did so much modelling work on!

I had been holding onto that computer even after buying my new M3 iMac because of Adobe Creative Suite 4 which I used to help create my 3D images. I could not load the old CS4 onto my new iMac and I refuse to pay Adobe’s ripoff subscription plans where they also claim the right to use any of my creations for their own promotion—no fucking way! I intend to install Affinity Pro onto my new iMac to replace my old copy of CS4 and hope it works just as well, but I haven’t done it yet while preparing and moving into my new home.

Somehow I didn’t get mad and lose my shit because I know she didn’t mean to do it. I had even given her a written list of items to make certain they weren’t taken, but she had a lot going on that day and forgot. She apologized and offered to replace it, but I told her it was irreplaceable. Yes, everything was duplicated on my new iMac, but CS4 was irreplaceable. It’s gone and I have to live it.

I’m still very disappointed. That 13 year old computer ran flawlessly and with my upgrades ran far better than when it was new. Now it’s trash.

Words fail me…

Sorry to hear that, man. Every so once in a while I hear horror stories about how parents threw out their kids' things thinking it was junk, but would probably turn four to five figures on eBay. I can't imagine such a loss. I'd probably need to go to the hospital if someone did that to me.

I HATE workmen.

When my parents died, they threw out a computer I had there---during my flood disaster, they broke my Franklin Mints and a couple of Eaglemoss ships.

Bastards all

Now that my mother’s house has been sold 😢 I hope things will soon settle down and I can soon get to Unseen TOS models. I miss their work. But I’m still waiting for some of my furniture, like my dining set, to be delivered.

Another wrinkle arose regarding my car. Despite it being a very cool vehicle which looks great, runs flawlessly and is a pleasure to drive I learned that under the nice skin it’s developing a serious corrosion issue that would cost major coin to fix, and it would be only forestalling the issue. It is, after all, a twenty year old car. And nothing lasts forever.

I cannot, in all good conscience, put thousands upon thousands of dollars into a twenty year old daily driver—it would become a money pit no matter how much I love the car.

So after agonizing over and over it I’ve chosen to rip off the bandage and buy a new one.

I feel you... I had a '79 Camaro (my first car) which I drove through many Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania winters. Loved that old junker - great memories from my youth there. Between many tens of thousands of miles of general wear and tear and heavily-salted winter roads, the whole ass end and part of the torque box on the firewall up front just got eaten out by rust. I was told it would take between $15-20K just for body restoration alone before I got to resto-modding the drive train, which was the original plan, to turn it into a true Z/28. I had all the replacement interior and (bolt-on) body parts ready to go for it, too. I was forced to come to terms with all that, so I broke it down to its last nut and bolt and parted everything out on eBay motors. I still have the original horn button somewhere with a 1:32 scale model I once made of the car. It was a sad time, but it would have bankrupted me to keep it. Instead, I discovered that people all over the world will pay some premium prices for OEM parts on vehicles that companies like Classic Industries aren't repopping certain parts for yet (at the time). There are pieces from my old Camaro spanning the globe now, from Australia to Germany.

In the end, the old girl paid for my wedding. Things find a way of working themselves out here in the Matrix. But you will get put through hell to get there. Such has been the story of my life as well.

Oof. The South may have its issues, but I'm glad rust is one thing I don't have to worry about. Hope everything gets settled for you soon!

Just picked it up this afternoon after work.

Sad that you had to let the old lady go though....
True.

A lot of reviews say this drives more like a truck, but with its seating position I quite like how sharp and sporty this feels to drive. I really like it in sport mode. I also quite like how spacious I find it even though it doesn’t feel big on the outside.

I also like how the dash and instrumentation is not overdone or over designed. I like how there are still good physical controls and you’re not overwhelmed with digital touch controls.

I like the view forward over those bulges on the hood. :techman:

So many modern cars and trucks are WAY too full of gadgets, toys, bells and whistles.... Not to mention those ridiculous display panels that serve more as a distraction than anything that should ever be part of a car.
