Uniforms in the new series

LOVE IT!!! I truly LOVE it. Class A would be dress uniforms and Class B would be duty uniforms. Great job. Green has to be Command again, I loved TOS look; just imagine if the materials were the sparkly velour once used in the 60's? Awesome design. Nice, Nice!!!!
Boring as Hell

Eh, it's true the design looks similar but those look cheap, and not textured as in the other pic. They are also brighter, which makes a huge difference. What iteration is this from anyway? Is Power Rangers still even on?? I only recall the PR uniforms from probably 20 years ago, though I've never seen the show.

I think it's from one of the Japanese "Super Sentai" shows that Power Rangers is actually an adaptation of.

Well, they're not looking exactly alike but close enough that I thought of them immediately.
Power Rangers is still on (currently in its 23rd season) and airs on Nickelodeon in the US but this picture is from a japanese Super Sentai show (which is adapted into Power Rangers, they're the same franchise), this particular season (Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters from 2012) was skipped and not adapted.

The uniforms you recall are probably from the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (or the 16th Super Sentai "Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger").

Yes, they do.

This was Go-Busters... one of the Sentais Power Rangers sadly skipped

It isn't worth the keystrokes any more. You know it is gold in HD, I know it's gold in HD. Someone even compared a picture posted to a color scale. Some people are so dug in that no amount of evidence to the contrary will satisfy them.

Seriously. If they were meant to be "avocado green", why were they gold in The Animated Series?

I have a solution to fix all of these problems. The crew members will all wear holographic uniforms. They can have a mirco-holographic emitter implant that will generate any clothing style or physical appearance desired.

We could even take this a step further and have the emitter generate whatever uniform style an observer desires. That way everyone can get the uniform style they want for the new series.

They were avocado green in the Animated Series or they were supposed to be. It's just that the studio lights washed them out making them appear a golden yellow color. The same way it turned the grey Kzinti spacesuits into pink and Chapel's left arm briefly appeared red instead of blue. ;)

Perhaps we're all thinking about this question from too much of a contemporary perspective.

Perhaps by the 23rd/24th century, mankind have evolved beyond the sociocultural need for clothing. Roddenberry did have an idea along those lines for TMP. :vulcan:

Throw in love instructors and you've got me sold!

Funny enough, black avocados are the only ones to come close to 'avocado' green on the inside. Usually the day before they turn brown.

Green avacados are more...yellow. Like command shirts.

It probably won't be for another while until we get to see the production design for the new Star Trek series, but how do you guys want the new uniforms to look? Casual and comfortable like the Enterprise uniforms, bright and colourful like the The Original Series and The Next Generation uniforms, or formal and classy like the original film uniforms?

I saw these posted on Reddit earlier today, and apparently, they were designed by @Longinus, a fellow BBS'er. Absolutely love the look of them, and if this show really is set between Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and The Next Generation as has been speculated and possibly hinted by Nicholas Meyer, these would be perfect...

A few changes here and there, with the pants leg opening for example, and I would pick these.

Nice. First I've heard of it being a Lost Era series. That's wonderful. Hope it's true.

Ah, it's nothing but speculation TBH.

Meyer was careful to say "don't misquote me on this", so I believe he was just talking about how Star Trek VI influences the show thematically.

TUC is one of the best, so that's still great to hear. Thematically could be the cold war, uneasy alliance, politicking, etc. Or it could be a lot of dinner parties, unintentional racism, and traitorous Starfleet officers. Hmm...

I really think if TUC was about the falling of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War, then this series could be about a resurgent Klingon Empire trying to retake it's old influence before a final peace treaty. That would work well both as an ENT C series and a mirror for political situations today.

Yeah, if THAT was the idea count me out! I want something that doesn't tie into TUC. That story is done; by the time of TNG things are okay with the Klingons. Time for a series to be just a little different, distancing itself from anything called ENTERPRISE.

It's not that I want it connected to TUC, rather than it would be great if it shared the themes. Especially if they are used as a metaphor to reflect current politics. You know, SF at its best.

O_o There was only one show called Enterprise... It won't take much to distance themselves from that.

Also, the peace between the Klingons and the Federation was not always a bed of roses. The Federation refused aid in the civil war, as well as in their war against the Cardassians. The idea that politics can turn tumultuous is something that could shed light on different ideas of relationships between the two powers.

It doesn't have to be even in the same continuity to utilize some of the powerful political themes from TUC. Meyer used them quite well, in my opinion, though I am biased due to TUC being my favorite.:techman::techman:
