Transition and explanation of SNW into TOS technology

I prefer a more nuanced approach, where only the things that haven't appeared in Picard, Prodigy or Lower Decks are fake.

What's interesting is that when DSC, PIC, LDS and PRO started, there was little to no continuity between any of them, almost as if one could make the case that each show took place in its own continuity/universe/whatever. But then later on there was this abrupt change to try to make them all fit together, with haphazard explanations (or none at all) for the discontinuities.

I'd say it's the only answer that makes sense AND lines up with the official positions of the studio.
It's a dramatic presentation. Some creative liberties have occurred.

Phasers still phaser.

Transporters still beam.

Warp drive still warps and drives.

I'm not really fussed by more details. This is like saying a new Zelda game can't possibly be connected to the old ones because I can see grass and bugs flying around on the Switch vs. what I could see on my Nintendo 64.

same universe, different timeline.

First Contact, a temporal cold war, Daniels tech, Borg tech, and Romulan time travelers have completely altered some events and all of the aesthetics.

How in the world did I miss THIS thread? Lol.

How about the same (prime) timeline, but altered slightly in the details due to some many time-traveling shenanigans, despite attempts being made to restore things exactly as they were?

This could even be used to explain some of the discontinuities in TOS where changes in terminology and even references to structural elements of the Enterprise, or why the name of the
organizational authorities are different from episode to episode or season to season, and seem to be bracketed by episodes featuring time travel?

The Kelvin timeline, on the other, hand is a completely separate parallel timeline resulting from no attempt being made to restore the original timeline.

As the Doctor said (no, not that Doctor), "wibbly wobbly, timey wimey".
