The synopsis from Simon & Schuster:
The five-year mission of the Starship Enterprise has brought the vessel and her crew to the forefront of an important first contact operation. Under the command of Captain James T. Kirk, the ship is heading to the planet Syhaar Prime in the Beta Quadrant—the homeworld of an alien civilization preparing to take its first steps onto the galactic stage. One year earlier, the Enterprise came across a badly damaged Syhaari explorer vessel drifting in deep space. In collaboration with the explorer’s captain, Kirk and his crew were able to restore the ship to full function and send it on its way. And now, as the Syhaari display rapid technological progress in the past year, hard questions must be asked. Is it possible that the Enterprise crew leaked advanced technology or information to the Syhaari during their first encounter, in violation of the Prime Directive?

That cover is gorgeous. I've thought a lot of the TOS-era ship-scene covers have been a little bland in the past several years. I like the strong use of color and the interesting composition with the front of the ship out of frame. The background is a little photoshoppy (and it seems the planet is translucent, with stars shining through), but the whole thing is stylish enough to make up for it.

It looks like this is Tony Mauro's first Trek book cover. Here's hoping there are more.

I've been quite disappointed in the TOS line in the last few years with a few exceptions. I love James Swallow and thus I am hoping for an exception here.

Nice cover!

And I really like the switch from the silver Star Trek logo to a gold version for the 50th! :techman: I wonder if the entire line will be doing that in 2016?

I like the cover art it's fantastic. Pocket has had a lot of great cover art for their books lately. I really liked Cast No Shadow. I definitely will be getting this novel.:bolian:

What a gorgeous cover! I was floored by Sight Unseen and the TOS line has been great in recent years. The calendars has been marked.

Hm.... Not a big fan of TOS novels. But.... James Swallow..... Might need to pick this up.

I'd recommend it. That's how I got into TOS novels (with That Which Divides and Allegiance). If you're unsure, you can wait for excerpts and/or the review discussion thread once it's out.
