That cover is gorgeous. I've thought a lot of the TOS-era ship-scene covers have been a little bland in the past several years. I like the strong use of color and the interesting composition with the front of the ship out of frame. The background is a little photoshoppy (and it seems the planet is translucent, with stars shining through), but the whole thing is stylish enough to make up for it.

It looks like this is Tony Mauro's first Trek book cover. Here's hoping there are more.

I've been quite disappointed in the TOS line in the last few years with a few exceptions. I love James Swallow and thus I am hoping for an exception here.

    I loved Cast No Shadows.

    TLF should be also fine.

    Nice cover!

And I really like the switch from the silver Star Trek logo to a gold version for the 50th! :techman: I wonder if the entire line will be doing that in 2016?

I like the cover art it's fantastic. Pocket has had a lot of great cover art for their books lately. I really liked Cast No Shadow. I definitely will be getting this novel.:bolian:

It sounds but how many newly warp capable race stories will Swallow write?

What a gorgeous cover! I was floored by Sight Unseen and the TOS line has been great in recent years. The calendars has been marked.

I'd recommend it. That's how I got into TOS novels (with That Which Divides and Allegiance). If you're unsure, you can wait for excerpts and/or the review discussion thread once it's out.

Typo in article. They give the novel's release as March 23, it is in fact being released February 23.

I have to say that I do not have much interest in TOS books, but I will be pre-ordering this because James is writing it. Loved the Valeris and Titan books.

Actually, I'd love a Valeris follow-up book. *hint hint*
