TOS - The Latter Fire by James Swallow - pre-release discussion

Love the cover ("She's a beautiful lady, and we love her!")... And while I appreciate the tightly interconnected continuities Pocket's writers spin yarns around these days, I got a sense, reading this novel's summary, of being a newly minted, teen Trekkie again in the 1980s, when every novel was a standalone adventure, and it felt like anything could happen.

Cool

Actually, I'd love a Valeris follow-up book. *hint hint*

Me too. ;)

I did think about giving a much older Valeris a cameo appearance in The Poisoned Chalice, but there was already a lot going on in that story and I didn't want to over-pack it. But she's out there, she's Vulcan and so she could be around well into the 25th century...

Yeah, Latter Fire is very much in that kind of style.

Not highly motivated to see Valerie in any more 23d century stories. Maybe for curiosity sake after Spock disappears?

it's why ive been loving the TOS books the pat few years. I've gotten behind on the 24th century stuff. i'm up to starting The Fall series. I really don't want to read the newer 24th century stuff until i get caught up. The nice thing with the TOS books is they are all stand-alone books, so easy to jump into.
