I dont think when the Doctor talks about his sonic not being able to undo a deadlock seal, he is not talking about ones fitted to cars, he is talking about a seal designed to be a defence against a sonic screwdriver, same for Sarah Janes sonic lipstick.

I had assumed that Ianto was talking about the car having both advanced anti theft technology and sonic deadlocks, in a world where Torchwood is being hunted and killed im sure those kids were given some tec by the government agency, which would allow them to steal it.

It can not be a coincidence that the SUV has been stolen only hours before the hub was blown up.

I am sure it was an innocent theft but will leave the team with a chance to get their hands on some of their gear now Torchwood is gone.

to be fair you do have a point there, it has allowed for some of the technology to survive but it could still be that it was stolen to order, to get even some of the technology Torchwood has, would be a good idea. "They" lost alot of that when they blow up the hub, but they could have gotten some from the SUV.

Also ive never had my car nicked but if it was I dont think I would ever see it as a "innocent theft"

No, but I doubt the black ops team hunting Torchwood would use/trust a bunch of Neds to nick stuff for them.

Unless of course that was Captain Bitch sticking her ass out the window as they drove by.

they look like the type of people who are more than capable of stealing a car, and there are two reasons why using them was a good idea.

1) it didnt tip Torchwood off, had they mounted a black op to steal the SUV, Torchwood would have thought there was something odd about it, and react.

2) what you think they could not track the SUV? all they would have to do is chase after the teens who stole it, more to the point one of the teens could have been a member of the specail ops team gone undercover to keep control.

Don't mean to rain on your parade Wamdue, but pretty sure the SUV was stolen way before the blank page order was given.

well as was the plan to get the doctor in undercover, but if it was stolen before the "blank page order" then yes it could be just be a simple case of joy riding, but had it been after the "blank page order" that is another story.

That was pretty good, a big step forward from the s2, which was a big step forward from s1. Hopefully this is a continuing trend.

Above average. It was entertaining but not an "event". The children were creepy but I hope they don't overplay this card. That was essentially the only weird thing in the episode.

Mr Awe

Bit fond of ripping off Batman begins music like they did with POTC in Doctor Who.

And, as a Welshman, I did chuckle a lot at the Severn Bridge lines. That is EXACTLY how people talk about it around here!

Yeah, being English, I laughed at it too. It's exactly the same for us. In addition we complain about having to pay to get in!

Crikey it's like John Wyndham's been reincarnated as a gay Welshman

:guffaw:

Excellent episode. Gwen reminded me of Nessa from Gavin and Stacey when she said to someone, "How's it goin?" Everyone looked like they'd put on loads of weight. Maybe it was just my telly? Gwen was far more likeable/less irritating to me than she has been. Even Rhys didn't wind me up. Perfect treat at the end of the week that wouldn't end. Looking forward to watching episode two tonight after a day of doing home work. Boo!

A bump, as Children of Earth debuts tonight on BBC America.

To my surprise, the mini-series got a four-star review in the free newspaper produced for commuters here in Baltimore that was given out this morning.

I never got around to watching this, certainly more convenient on TV, think I'm gonna be watching the BBCA version. Nice to get it so soon after the UK broadcast.

Bummer that DirecTV didn't start carrying BBC America in HD when they launched.

But reading BBC America's website, it seems to me that they launched the HD channel before anyone was ready to carry them.

Finished watching Day One about an hour ago here on SPACE, and it I thought it was "bloody good". Really enjoyed it. And count me among those who were suprised by the doctor guy turning out to be a plant; I too thought he was going to end up being Owen's replacement. The kids were suitably creepy, especially when they started screeching. Can't wait for tomorrow's ep! :bolian:

It is so freaking cool to see Torchwood back. I really liked this episode, and the interplay between the characters was great. Looking forward to seeing each episode each night, and that cliffhanger was great stuff. Also nice that BBCA is providing the inside look to clear things up, such as Ianto's family. As for Jack and his other life, I was wondering if that was a bit out of character since we kind of know Jack as staying in the hub. This side story was way out of left field for him.

I haven't watched Torchwood since mid-first season, but I've decided to give the miniseries a go. So far so good. Definitely seems to be a far, far better show than the crap back then.

Well thanks to my sister being away on vacation this week I have access to BBC America on the very week this and Planet of the Dead airs! YEAH! I've never been a big fan of Torchwood's first two years, it's just too bleak and depressing and slow and boring. But this first episode of S3 was actually pretty good! Interesting premise, it's not depressing, the villain is the government which is interesting. Also I was floored that Jack had children for some reason I thought he was sterile for some reason! Also enjoyed Ianto's home life. I think I'm just so happy that Owen is gone he was such a miserable sod. :p
