TNG fans please identify yourselves ...

Hello everyone! I am a big Star Trek fan. Oddly enough I didn't even know this BBS existed until a friendly Redditor let me know you folks were here. So here I am! I enjoy all the series and grew up/ got started on TNG although I'm sure I must have seen some of the TOS movies before that. Looking forward to healthy discussion especially on all the new series coming out. But I'll be all over the TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT forums as well!

Welcome aboard! Always a pleasure to meet someone with a TNG-related username!

Welcome to both of you, Q_the_Misanthrope and Capt. Moon! I look forward to learning more about your views of TNG.

Good morning and a happy new year to everyone! I decided to do something useful in 2020 so I finally signed up to this board. TNG is my favorite Star Trek show so I'm putting my first post right here. :)

welcome to the forum.. it is really a great place to have fun... there are many things to see and post and interact.. it's wonderful here.. enjoy.

Thanks for the nice and friendly welcome! I feel at home already.

Extending a welcome to you as well Lt. Johnny .. enjoy the posts here..

Major star trek fan here I grew up with the reruns of the original series and my family called me Spock growing up. (still do) I watched the TNG later on in life and now introducing them to my daughter. I am a big Picard fam and enjoy saying make it so or make it happen. I am also a star wars fan but more of a trekkie. We are also potterheads at my house too so if our star trek and star wars quotes do not annoy you, our happy potter ones sure will. People probably think I am totally odd.

I grew up seeing the tale end of the original series first airing then it was all the reruns over and over.. :) It was great.. I am glad you are here .. too. :) Welcome

Welcome as well.. --- I had started with these shows watching when ever I could.. --- whatever was star trek.. and science fiction.. I was part of a sim group that tried to invite members of Trekbbs to the sim site but after I posted a few times in the forum I was hooked to this site. I have since stopped writing trek simulations and just post here.. --- there is also stuff like that going on here.. :) Welcome to the forum.

I did not know this existed either. I am glad it was found.

Welcome Cpt. Moon --- welcome again it has been here for a long time.. and still is amazing and growing by leaps and bounds.---

It is recommended to get to know people in the lounges area and such .. at first though I had stayed there too long now..--

I am new to this part of the forum I mostly post in misc TNZ - and the lounges.. making games for post and play.--- I have started to rewatch the TNG .. episode by episode I am not sure if I have seen all the episodes or even if I can remember them and their details so the all access CBS channel on the computer works well and I do wait for discovery to return .. that is amazing stuff. -- in the meantime hopefully I can watch TNG in it's completeness. I skipped thru the first season having had those episodes mostly on vhs tapes back in the 90's about.. but did not complete my collection of tapes.. (due to money) --- and such.. --- although I did watch the ones I had over and over.. --- since ondemand was not a thing back then.. --- I just watched Season 3 episode 25 that is where I am at now that was Transfigurations that I saw but the details I did not remember.. -- I do at least 2-3 episodes everyday....//

I am glad the forum has this section here to post things and read in the second monitor while I watch TNG in the first monitor of mine..---

Peace..

Hello! I’m Delaney and tng is my favorite of all the Star Trek series! I’ve watched it ever since I was 8 and when I was younger I LOVED Dianna, but now Beverly is my favorite character of all time. I love to talk about her and Picard’s relationship (I know it’s cringey but I don’t care)

I got to see Jonathan Frakes at Comic Con a few years ago and it was really cool! He was a really nice person and had a good sense of humor.

I love character driven episodes, and my favorite visiting character is Mrs. Troi (I didn’t want to try to spell her first name)

I’m new to this website, so nice to meet all of you!

Hello! Long time Trek fan and lurker here. I made my account ages ago but never really posted much. But I did follow a lot of threads. Glad these boards still exist and that Trek is experiencing a resurgence of new "TV" shows. DS9 and TNG were always my favorite Trek shows with Data being my favorite Trek character of all-time. Worf and Troi are also big favorites of mine, with Picard probably being my favorite captain. So perhaps excitement for the new show has brought me back. I'm honestly still not over Data's death in Nemesis, but I love the idea of Data's legacy and all the issues surrounding artificial intelligence being explored in the new show. I finished up a DS9 rewatch last year. Hoping to start a TNG one at some point soon. Will hopefully post my opinions when I do, cuz I honestly don't think I've ever done a full rewatch since the 90s. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and engage in a bit of conversation from time to time, especially as we are finally seeing TNG characters back on the small screen, it's good to look back and remember what made those characters so great in the first place.

Too bad you don't have anything to do.
BTW, welcome to TNG, it'll be fun here.

Thank you? Yes, thank you. Say, have you re-watched "Measure of a Man" to re-familiarize yourself with Bruce Maddox? (PICARD/TNG crossover question)
Measure of a Man was the first ep of TNG I ever watched (long story). It cemented my love of the show in an immediate and lasting way. I'm up to date on Picard and almost jumped out of my chair (slowly like the old guy I am) when Maddox' name was mentioned.

That is a *very* interesting synchronicity!

Please be generous with your posting, your fresh perspective is a benefit to all of us.

Thanks Mutai Sho-Rin & everyone else who responded to my initial post! I'm just doing a quick "check-in" to reassure everyone that I am still watching AND I'm falling more (and more... and more!) in love with the show, the writing, the acting, the universe... It's a marvel.

I've been watching as much as possible, tho sometimes it has been in fits and spurts. I just completed Season 6, Episode 19 "Lessons", and wow... what another incredible storyline. I can honestly say that I'm never quite sure where an episode will end up, and "Lessons" was no exception.

My only gripe is... now I'm falling way behind (haha)! I have the rest of TNG, then Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise, Discovery, and now Picard?! I have my work cut out for me haha.

Still, I think I'll be ready to get more involved in the community once I've completed TNG. For some reason, finishing that series without any spoilers feels like such a personal journey to me, and I just can't help myself.

Thanks again for the replies & words of welcome, and I'll be back in another couple months (or so) to catch up. Cheers!

I was really happy for that continuity but I was also griping internally about the lack of mention of Lal. Hopefully she isn't forgotten, but, dunno.

Not mentioning her does simplify storytelling, though.

I've been around the Lit board for about a week now because I actually took a really weird way into this part of the timeline and I've read a couple of novels before watching any Trek outside of TOS but I've recently started watching TNG, DS9, VOY through netflix and also just reruns I saw on TV and I really enjoy it, I still think TOS is my favourite but now I've watched a good amount of TNG thought I'd introduce myself here.

It can be a little clunky sometimes but it makes up for it with some awesome episodes (at least in my opinion).
If that bothered me I wouldn't have watched TOS  but seriously its pretty great, I mean sure it has its weird moments but it also has "Offspring", "Who Watches the Watchers" and the one I can't remember the name of where Picard goes on holiday. And I've only watched about 20 eps so there's loads more episodes I'm sure I'll enjoy too

Hahaha, true, true... but don't say this too loudly, the TOS fans might hear it

You mean "Captain's Holiday". I absolutely adore Jean-Luc in his speedos in that episode but that might just be me. lol And yes, omg, you have SO much more TNG to explore. Have fun with it! It's a great little show. (I'm totally not biased.)

Any particular favourites? I've got a general idea of episodes that are supposed to be good, I'm probably going to move to "Yesterday's Enterprise" "Measure of a Man" "The lower decks" and "Q Who"

Oh dear, my favorites aren't anywhere near the fan favorites everyone else loves, I tend to find it boring to like fan favorites. But since both "Measure Of A Man" and "Q Who" are from my favorite season (2) I'll definitely agree with those. As far as fan favorites go, there's also "Darmok" and "The Inner Light" to mention, I guess.

My personal favorites are "The Royale", "Time Squared" and "Masks" tho. Doubtful that any other TNG fan would agree with me here.
