Game TNG Episode Pitch Game

Data Crunching

In an effort to be more useful around the ship, Data experiments with miniaturization, creating a small remote Data unit that receives instruction from his brain as to how to move. When he loses contact with the mini-Data module, he and Geordi must locate it before the stored information on the device falls into the wrong hands. Meanwhile, Deanna is finding it difficult to stay on task for a scientific paper she is writing with a looming deadline.

The Favor

The O'Briens are trying to conceive their 1st child & having fertility issues, that they think is a problem on Miles' end. He's embarrassed about it but asks Riker to be a donor, which he agrees to, but in the end Dr. Crusher devises a miraculous medical intervention that sorts Miles problem out instead. Meanwhile, Data is involved with figuring out the nuances of planning a birthday party for the captain, which no one has the heart to tell him is not such a good idea, & it ends up being a rather awkward time for everyone.

All's Well That Ends Well
Picard attends a diplomatic event that is fraught with misunderstandings, including the mysterious disappearance of a delegate's daughter, which has all sides pointing fingers at each other. Meanwhile, Wesley uncovers disturbing information about someone who is dating a friend of his when he and the boyfriend play a holoprogram together, and debates on whether he should warn her or not.

(TNG offers the added challenge of finding two scenarios, primary and secondary, that both fit the title.)

Incendiary Devices

The Enterprise is caught in a deliberately set Romulan trap, that uses a minefield of cloaked sensors that engage with the ship's life-support system, & cause internal explosions throughout the ship, by igniting their own air supply, for which the only solution is to put the entire crew into suspended animation, and disengage all life-support functions, so that Mr. Data can maneuver the ship to safety on his own.

Next episode: Greetings And Salutations

Greetings And Salutations - Picard and Deanna must attempt to decode steganographic spy messages that Starfleet Intelligence believes are hidden in ordinary correspondence between Starfleet personnel. Meanwhile, Beverly and Wesley are attending a Crusher family reunion, with certain members of Jack's family making them feel less than welcome.

Next episode: "Absent From The Body" (2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV)

Absent From The Body

The Enterprise & crew get enveloped by a nebula-like expanse, & come across another sizable starship trapped there, that they find out has been powerless & adrift there for hundreds of years. Its inhabitants essentially turned it into a colony, built by its original crew & their descendants, using cosmic radiation to light the ship with UV, which supports a biodiverse jungle ecosystem in the dead vessel's interior, & allows them to continue to survive entirely within. Having lost the ability to use any of their ship's systems, it falls to the Enterprise crew to free them both. In a B-plot, Data struggles to understand human spirit, and whether he could ever possess it.

"The Light of Day"

When Colleen Richards, a former colleague of Doctor Crusher arrives on the ship, Beverly acts very coldly towards them. Her crewmates express surprise and gentle curiosity, but she brusquely shoots down any probing into the situation. Richards worked with Crusher when she was the head of Starfleet Medical, and we find out the true reason why Crusher had to vacate the position after only a year. There was an incident and subsequent cover-up that could ruin Beverly's career if it were widely known...

In the B-plot, Data searches for a new emergency sitter for Spot after Worf adamantly states that he will no longer do it.

The Unquiet

When the Enterprise visits an intriguing nebula to study some fascinating gravimetric phenomena, Deanna begins to have nightmares that frighten her senseless. Finally she doesn't dare to sleep at all. After a week of no sleep, she begins to hallucinate while she's awake as well. In her sleep-deprived state, she also begins to broadcast her hallucinations to anyone who touches her or is themselves telepathic. Meanwhile, Riker is exploring his favorite holodeck adventure and is shocked to find that Deanna's nightmares, that he caught a glimpse of as he carried her to sickbay, have come alive on the holodeck. Finally enlisting Geordi's help, Riker and La Forge learn that both Deanna's hallucinations and the holodeck malfunctions were caused by energy beings who live in the nebula. The Enterprise crew attempts to communicate with the beings, and when they fail, they quarantine the nebula place warning buoys around it to warn other ships away.

Next episode: Eyes Do More Than See (title of a story by Isaac Asimov)

Eyes Do More Than See

The Enterprise is tasked with an away mission to salvage sensitive mission materials from a downed starship, in a hazardous region. The conditions are so caustic & radioactive that only Data can be sent into the area for retrieval, but even he has a time limit on how long he can safely be in there, and will have to undergo extensive decontamination afterward. Unfortunately, conditions are so terrible, it's determined that he will not be able to see down there, even with his advanced ocular tech. He and Geordi improvise a linkage, similar to those Geordi has used in the past to connect it to the ship's systems, that would allow Data himself to wear & use Geordi's VISOR, which can then be tuned to filter out all the bandwidth chaos. What neither of them had been prepared for was the realization that this linkage could work both ways, an offer Geordi an opportunity to see the way that Data does as well. This begins an endeavor to combine both technologies (Like I had suggested back on page 2 of this thread)

Next Episode: The Elephant In The Room

The Elephant In The Room - After being drummed out of the service following a disastrous incident, an old friend of William Riker refuses to admit that his Starfleet career is over, even going so far as to represent himself as a Starfleet liaison to alien races. Originally sent to arrest the man, Riker finds that his friend is the only man who can resolve a conflict between two alien races. Meanwhile, Geordi's latest girlfriend seems perfect in every way, except she wants him to dump Data.

Next episode: "J'A-Qs" ("J'Accuse") (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J'Accuse...!)

J'A-Qs - The trial of Q continues, where the specifics of the debate now revolve around the Starfleeter claim that they have evolved to idyllic or even utopian ends. Picard's assertions that Q had previously misjudged humanity as a "savage child race", based only on its past, are met with a "Ghost of Christmas Present" style rebuke on Q's part, where he now whisks the ship off to distant & even lost places about the galaxy that humanity has migrated to, which haven't worked out ideally at all. In particular, one of the worlds he brings them to is Tasha Yar's homeworld of Turkana IV, where he shows us the atrocious conditions Tasha lived in, before she'd left for Stafleet, & finishes off his ugly reminder by asking "Whatever happened to her?" as a way to rub salt in the wound of her having recently been killed. Of all people, it is Guinan that interjects on the crew's behalf, to wage the counterargument against Q, and ultimately frustrate him into leaving again, proving yet again, that she has some quality that Q is intimidated by.

Next Episode: Warp And Weft (Warp and weft - Wikipedia)

Warp And Weft - The Enterprise-D investigates claims of a new device that can repair holes in the fabric of space, testing it on a small tear. Unbeknownst to them, the "tear" is actually a gateway that, if fixed, will cut an alien race off from a valuable resource...which may have been someone's (the scientist or a Federation conspiracy) all along. Meanwhile, Riker is composing a special song for Deanna's birthday, incorporating elements of Betazoid music and her personal life.

Next episode: "The Intercessor"

(I added a new rule (which I have been following, mostly) 5) Include both A and B stories, where applicable (TNG had both, unlike TOS (usually))

The Intercessor - The Enterprise is host to a Starfleet specialist, who is tasked with representing the currently hibernating Grizzelas in a sudden border dispute with a neighbor, that's been encroaching on their territory, using cloaking technology on their outposts as a means to hide their advancement into Grizzelan space. The specialist has to work closely with the science & engineering teams wherein Geordi begins developing feelings for her, and because of his weak skills at romance he asks Deanna Troi if she'd help him work it out by putting in a good word for him.

Next Episode - The Game Is Afoot (Sherlock Holmes Reference)

The Game Is Afoot - After an accidental overload while attempting to repair the holodeck mid-game, Data is stuck in "Sherlock Holmes" mode (he actually believes he is Holmes, not just role-playing). This creates complications when the Enterprise-D crew tour a cybernetics research institute whose director is murdered. Can Data crack the case, Sherlock-style? Geordi plays along as Watson to humor Data, as an excuse to continue surreptitiously searching for a fix to his problem.

Next episode: "Honor Guard" (EDIT: intended as a Klingon prompt, but doesn't have to be)

Honor Guard

After the Events of Rascals, Alexander is given a commendation for his assistance in retaking the Enterprise from the Ferengi invaders, and in further recognition, he's selected for a role as a student officer to his class, in charge of being a captain to his classmates in case of emergencies or safety drills etc... Worf takes this very seriously, and it becomes clear that maybe they are going about it in a more Klingon manner than is appropriate for the children, at which time Deanna comes to their aid in helping them adjust their methods.

Next Episode: The Programmer

The Programmer - A special computer engineering team is assigned to update and install new training simulation software they have developed on the Enterprise. Beverly suspects that one of the team members is subtly manipulating certain staff members psychologically in their various interactions to some nefarious end, but nobody else seems to notice.

Pins and Needles
On the same day Beverly Crusher is having a ceremony to be decorated with a Starfleet Medical citation, The Enterprise is on a mission that brings them to the Star base that Dr. Kate Pulaski is currently serving on, where as it turns out, she is engaged it highly groundbreaking & controversial medical research, that causes the two doctors to clash about ideologies

Next Episode: Once In a Blue Moon

Once In a Blue Moon - The Enterprise is observing the return of a spaceborne avian lifeform to its ancestral spawning grounds on a planet. Meanwhile, Riker's cousin is refusing to deal with her high-functioning addiction and depression, necessitating an intervention.

Confession

During a mission to aid a planet that has a viral pandemic, the head of its global medical board is forced to admit to Dr. Crusher that the medical establishment itself has been engaged in a global conspiracy to deliberately proliferate the nonlethal disease, so that the population is not healthy enough to go back to the brutal war that had been previously ongoing, which had posed a much greater threat to their survival. As a result, Beverly's convictions to her two oaths of healing the sick & upholding the prime directive are in conflict. Meanwhile, aboard the Enterprise, Troi spends a significant amount of time with Guinan, where she expresses her dismay that the crew, especially the senior staff, would rather use Guinan as their counselor than come to her.

Next Episode: The Fruits of Labor

The Fruits of Labor - Marie Picard seeks her brother-in-law's help when a rival vintner contests ownership of a property Robert purchased just before his death.
