Who?Captain Ezra.
Who?Captain Ezra.
Captain Ezri Dax perhaps? I know in the current novels, Ezri became captain of her own starship...Who?T'Girl said:Captain Ezra.
What if it is in the early 24th/late 23rd century? Sulu might not have been promoted in that time.I'm going with "Other."
It can't be Captain Sulu and the Excelsior. So much time has passed IRL that the character would have to be a fleet admiral at Starfleet headquarters by now.
And there's no need to bash the Abrams movies in the poll.

That is now an option. So change your vote if you wish.Other. Set in the (good) Abrams Universe.
The junior grade Lieutenant and counselor....Captain Ezri Dax perhaps? I know in the current novels, Ezri became captain of her own starship...
The novels are set a number of years after DS9 and inferred that Ezri switching to command was due to her growing from what she was during the show. Ezri's jump to captain is a bit more plausible than Kirk's in Star Trek XI, IMO...The junior grade Lieutenant and counselor....C.E. Evans said:Captain Ezri Dax perhaps? I'm sometimes reminded why I don't read the novels![]()
I respect your opinion but would rather something based on previous events (and building on them) instead of something new.Complete reboot.
I agree with the Former and Latter (more so with the former)!Primeverse:
Between TUC and TNG
or
Post-NEM
I also Loathe AbramsTrek. But would not like a hard reboot (or any reboot at all!) just something that builds on Established Canon and something with cool references to earlier Trek and something only Big Fans can understand (or other people who are Trek writers, related to Trek writers, friends of Trek writers, or Memory Alpha/Beta addicts)! Because most people here (including me!) are Big Trek fans.I presume they'll take it to the Abramsverse both in setting and style. It's probably the most commercially safe. - which is unfortunate for me, as I absolutely loathe AbramsTrek.
But aside from that, I am curious as to where they'll set it because it's not just that obvious what they'll do with this. Because they aren't going to step on Pine and Co shoes - so what else is there?
I suppose my own preference is for a hard reboot featuring Kirk and Co alá nuBSG. Start again with an all new canon.
Well, it is not good for me. Just my opinion, though.Abramsuniverse is good for me.
I would choose prime. A prime universe one was made on the BBS too! With the Constellation class USS Orion (small by the Dominion War in the 24th century, where the story is set). The story is "Star Trek Orion" made by @Bry_Sinclair! I respect your wish for an official one and agree with it too.Other. Smaller ship with a band of misfits. Don't know which universe or timeframe.
Why would you not want long story arcs? What do you not like about them? Personally, I do not like unrelated stories! Only story arcs!I hope it is set in the prime universe, on a starship, about two decades after Nemesis. A diverse cast of new characters, maybe some cameos from old ones (I'd love to see Stewart again as Picard, if even for briefly. He could be an Admiral who gives a mission to our new heroes.) I wouldn't oppose bringing one or two old characters as regulars, like they did with O'Brien and Worf in DS9 (Bashir and O'Brien would be my favourites for that treatment.) I'd prefer a female captain and it would be nice if the crew included either a Vulcan or an android (maybe Maddox finally has managed to unlock the secrets of positronic brains.)
Episodic format, no need for long story archs, though there could be some overarching issues and themes. Intelligent and thought provoking stories that explore interesting sci-fi concepts as well as social issues. Overall optimistic tone like in TOS and TNG. An utopian depiction of the Federation like in TNG, although people themselves do not need to be flawless; some interpersonal drama is OK, as long as it does not devolve into a soap opera.
I hate planet of the week! Unless that planet is Romulus, Remus, or Kronos (or some other established planet!). What is good about Planet of the Week?Planet of the week doesn't lend itself to long story arcs. I think Trek needs to finally get back to some planet of the week stories. That was the core of TOS and the other shows never captured it.
