Things you wouldn't like to see return for a sequel

I'd actually like to see them mine the drama of Spock and Uhura's relationship ending, as he tries to become more Vulcan and hence, more distant.

It feels like they're setting up just the opposite. Because of the events of the movie, Spock has become more emotional and embraced it as part of his being instead of constantly suppressing and denying it like he did in the TOS. Spock Prime literally tells him to "forgoe logic; Do what feels right." While I don't think they're heading toward a break up you have to wonder how that relationship will even work. How could Spock's mom ever tolerate his dad's coldness and soicism. How will Uhura? Off topic, yes.

Okay, what I don't want to see come back... time travel.

I'd like to see him fight his feelings for her...you know, his human side vs his vulcan side. i think it would be alot more interesting watching the inner struggle he would have.

as much as i love them, i hope they dont have any original series people...its time to be set free.

^Agreed. No more original series people. Though I'd be fine with maybe having Spock Prime in the sequel since hes already apart of this new timeline. No more though cause that would lead to...

...more time travel! Which is also a big no from me.

I also agree that an old story should not be reused, maybe later...but not for this next one.

One thing I DO wanna see though is more McCoy please!

Zoe Saldana.

I just couldn't stand her in the movie. I can't pinpoint what it was about her but I would rather see someone else play Uhura (no idea who, just someone else).

That and the Spock/Uhura love story.

Zoe Saldana was great. :techman: The only other person I could see playing Uhura is young Nichelle Nichols, but there is an obvious problem with that casting idea...

It seems like you're in the minority when it comes to Spock/Uhura. http://trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=97514&page=4 :)

That girl was a little too chubby, a little too teen-contemporary, and not nearly 'erotic' enough to pass as a green Orion girl. The girl who played the tribal leader's wife in 'A Private Little War' is the sort you need to green up and turn loose to chew up the scenery.

Off Topic: To each his or her own, but I should be so 'chubby' as Gaila. I think she has a gorgeous body. I'd rather have my nieces use her as a role model for beauty than the stick figures that populate most of the TV shows and movies these days.

On Topic: I agree with the less lens flare/less shakycam crowd. Ugh.

And I COMPLETELY agree with the "More McCoy, please" crowd!

I'd be VERY happy if i had Gaila's body.

i LOVED Zoe as Uhura. I saw her as smart, spunky, fierce. Exactly as i pictured a young Uhura would be. LOVED loved LOVED her!

i sorta see spock in the movies now sorta like he was later in the series.

while he feels an obligation to the remant of vulcan people and culture he is also dealing with the loss of his mother and honoring her.

he also has the revelation from his father that sarek married out amanda out of love.

I agree with the Engineering set thoughts...I liked some of the aspects of it but indeed did look like a factory or brewery.

Less comedy, more normal dialogue. Normal people don't have quick witty quirps every few seconds in their conversations, unless they're trying to be annoying.

Time Travel...getting sick of it.

Things to lose...all the carping, complaining, bellyaching and whining by fans. :klingon:

This is a new Star Trek, people. Get on board or get off the ship. I liked the little Scotty sidekick. I liked the Spock/Uhura relationship and don't want to see it axed because some people can't handle a brave new Trek. I liked Scotty's feisty sense of humor, the new bridge and even the damn lens flares. Whatever the director wants to do is fine with me just bring on another Trek movie.

And its attitudes like that which led to needing a reboot in the first place.

As for my own picks
A)Simon Pegg, he was completely miscast as Scotty and is the only actor i would like to see replaced
B)Lens Flares, way overdone
C)Five minute villains. Can we get a villain this time round that actually has a bit of depth and screentime?
D)Khan.

Not going to happen

Don't worry Abrams admits he went overboard there

Abrams wanted to focus more on Kirk and Spock and seeing as this is a TOS based movie Kirk and Spock are more important than the villan/plot device.

Is that a fact?

For your information, I quit watching Star Trek long before they got into a zillion incarnations of it. Why? Because it became lame and boring. The original cast movies should have quit after TSFS. I enjoyed this movie thoroughly and I'm not letting anyone rain on my parade. I have few, very few, nitpicks where JJ's movie is concerned, and I'm not wasting valuable time or energy complaining about them. It's attitudes like this that practically make fans the pariah of any franchise. In the end, everyone has an opinion and mine is no less valid than yours.

P.S. I stand by my liking of the damn lens flares, so there.
