Things you wouldn't like to see return for a sequel

I liked the movie overall, and the only thing I'd really want to change was Engineering. I like the new look, with all the pipes, and "boilers"...but, I think it could be a bit more organized. In the next movie, it would be nice if they make the compartment look like it could fit into the hull of whatever size they determine the Enterprise to be. They could shoot it in a brewery again, for all I care, as long as they put in walls (set or cgi), and make the space look smaller. An actual control area would be nice too. I don't want the entire secondary hull to be engineering (shuttle bay spaces excluded, of course)...most of it, fine, but it would be nice if there was some flow of design from one area of the ship to the next. A few screens and panels here and there isn't gonna cut it.

And seeing something analogous to what we've previously seen as a warp core would bve nifty as well. The vats could be fusion reactors, or coolant system components...really doesn't bother me, as long as we see something warp-core-ish. Give us a nice view of the pretty looking blue things they ejected into the black hole.

Engineering needs to look more like engineering and less like a brewery.

Scotty's friend can come back, so long as he brings some valuable engineering skills along with him.

Hasn't anyone mentioned those ugly viewscreens yet? I definitely don't want to see those ever again! Being a screen and a window at the same time, with all those reflections and the wrong aspect ratio ... it annoyed the hell out of me!

I don't want to see the Enterprise sets again. I hope they can make the interiors at least as kewl as the ones on the Kelvin. Revenge as a motive for the vilian. The TOS uniforms. They look cheesy on the big-screen. I would like to see some variety beyond different colors. Make sure though you keep Uhura in a skirt.

You didn't like the viewscreens? I'm not a fan of the sets but that was actually was aspect of the bridge I did like. To me the Enterprise had two things going for it. The viewscreen looked good and I like how the ship felt crowded. Well I also like the transporter effect but that is proably more of special effects thing and thus not part of the overall look of the ship.

  1. Winona Ryder as Amanda Grayson (just to nix flashbacks)
  2. Kirk's womanizing (or at least tone it down)
  3. One-dimensional villian
  4. Time Travel
  5. Chekov as a wonder kid (The actor did not bother me but there is Wesley Crusher potential.)
  6. The Beasties (no need - just flash and bad flash at that)

No more time travel. Like seriously.

Less canon-pandering. This ties in to the "no time travel" rule, because I would have been perfectly happy with a straight-up reboot that didn't jump through hoops to get the old fans on board. I'm perfectly happy with what we got because it's fuckawesome, mind you.

Less slavish attention to The Trio and more focus on the cast as an ensemble. Give everyone else some more screen time.

I also loved the viewscreen. In Nemesis we saw that there was actual SPACE behind the viewscreen anyway, so why not make it a window? And it's perfectly legitimate if the window can show things just like a viewscreen can anyway. It's the best of both worlds ;)

I want at least as many lens flares. Seriously.

Also, the engineering set is just fine. No need to change it.

I think time travel should be avoided at least for a couple more flicks.

Time travel, for sure.

Scotty's 'lil buddy.

Less comic relief from Scotty--spread it around more evenly to include the rest of the cast, it will increase all their appeal, IMO.

Violent Spock.

Any more "cadets".

I didn't like the bridge at all, it was too white, and too bright. I loved the Kelvin's bridge though, I wish they would have used that as the Enterprise bridge.
