Things That Were Funny Once...

"Please walk this way"

Although I'm not sure if that was ever funny.
It was when Marty Feldman said it.

Not so much when the answer is along the lines of "Honey, if I could walk that way, I wouldn't need __________."

Monty Python made fun of that joke a few times. :bolian:

And yes, Marty Feldman made it his own, really. Now, every time I hear that line in any movie, I'm expecting someone to make a Young Frankenstein reference... but no-one ever does.

Ooh... a character that is talked about but never seen. Old.

And... I'm not a professional, but I can fix this (only to make it worse).

A lot of the stuff from the Austin Powers movies I don't think is all that funny anymore for some reason, other than Basil Exposition being older in the past.

"According to my calculations, everything will go as planned."

(Disastrous result.)

"Forgot to carry the one."

Speaking of IT Crowd I got extremely very muchly sick of them saying "have you tried turning it off and then on again?" over and over and over.

I can only remember it being said about 5 times in 18 episodes and 3 of them were in the first episode. Besides that is a good running joke for IT support, since that is usually either the thing to do or the first thing they ask...

Oh... what about a guy struggling to do something for hours only to have a woman figure it out in about 5 seconds?

I'd have to go with Steve Martin's "I want a f*cking car..." bit from Trains, Planes, and Automobiles. A friend and I were howling when we first saw this scene in a theater way back when. Now I barely crack a smile. All I can figure is that I hear the 'F' word so many times a day now that I've gotten desensitized.

Bottom... The Fast Show... they used to be funny, but seeing them recently I would say they're not any more.

Wow, and I thought it was just me. Watched my Bottom dvd's just a few months ago and had the same reaction. Mildly amusing rather than lol funny like I remember.

Akin to that is the guy trying to pick the lock and someone else just rolls their eyes and kicks it in.

Yow. Doctor Who actually used that one last season.

Someone is struggling to open a jar and then someone else comes up and opens it on the first try and the other person says "yeah, well I loosened it up for you."

Mel Brooks and Aerosmith sure thought so.

I'll add 'any woman punches any man' when the hilarity is supposed to result merely from that. Its 2009. We know a woman can throw a punch. It was funny when Loretta Swit did it on MASH. She was the last.

Oh yeah:

"I'm too old for this shit." - great line in the first Lethal Weapon, not so much afterwards.

Anytime something happens then someone responds with a "I picked a helluva time to quit" insert drinking/smoking/whatever.

It was funny when Lloyd Bridges was doing the bit in Airplane, hasn't been funny since.

"Nope. I won't do it. I will never do it and you can't make me. Not in a million years." Then, next scene, they're doing it. Very common on Buffy.
