Things That Were Funny Once...

Nardpuncher

Rear Admiral
There are quite a few lines in movies/TV that may have been smile or chuckle worthy once, but have overstayed their welcome.
Mine are:

  • "I have 2 words for you..." then the guy says 3 words, then some one else points out that what the guy said was 3 words.
  • Someone does something stupid or dangerous, another character asks in shock "Did you just (stupid thing)?!?!!?" and the first guy says "....um....no?" sheepishly. Homer did it more than once.
  • Refering to a dangerous weapon (aren't they all?) in a very slow, stilted fashion to your enemy. "You now have a 5.56mm belt-fed 200 round fully automatic weapon pointed at your head." Then the clincher: "...any questions?"
  • When someone, be it good guy or bad guy...sees some of the enemy approaching and says "We got company!" The facetiousness of that phrase has completely vanished after it's been used for 50 years or whatnot.

  • Whenever someone says that something isn't real, like Santa, and then someone goes "Santa isn't real?!" and starts crying.

I've been watching 24 lately and Jack saying something...then yelling it gain with a "NOW!" is pretty old. I love how the person he says it to doesn't do it when he just says it but if he yells....everybody does what he wants.

The old "I misheard you so this entire episode is based on antics over a misunderstanding" episode.

"You need to come here... there's something you need to see" (that I can't tell you about on the phone for dramatic reasons)

Bottom... The Fast Show... they used to be funny, but seeing them recently I would say they're not any more.

When someone tries to speak a foreign/alien language, then finds out that he accidentally said something bad about the other guys mother. Every time it's the bloody mother.
