Blowing themselves up was not a glitch, it was a feature. Probably because they knew the Regulators wouldn't be so merciful to them after Burnham killed Osyraa. The Viridian continuing to fire on a practically immobile ship trapped in its hold presented the very real risk that they would lose their shields and get boarded again. If they couldn't jump out, there was no way they would've survived.
Besides, I thought one of the points they were trying to make was that Starfleet doesn't have a proper intelligence file on the outside galaxy these days. After all, Osyrra was the one to inform Vance about a Starfleet Deep Space outpost which was now engaging capitalism and was in regular contact with the Chain but hadn't been in contact with Starfleet Command and close to ninety years. If Starfleet Command is that cutoff from its own people, they can understandably be ignorant about the Emerald Chain, with whom they've maintained a rather antagonistic relationship with.
What reason is there to believe those fleets posed a threat to them? The Viridian was never running from those fleets, they were running after Disco, the fleets just joined in the chase.

this was explained (sort of), actually: he didn’t destroy the dilithium, he made it temporarily inert, causing the matter-antimatter reaction to destroy warp cores. Agreed on the other points you make.
The only reason they didn't destroy HQ was because Michael surrendered to Osyrra to spare HQ. All that proves is that Osyrra does have some sort of honor code, not that she was intimidated by the combined Starfleet Ni'var armada.
i don’t remember this. Actually I remember the opposite (Discovery not being destroyed on Michael’s plea).
Rather, a great luck that Discovery is a fictional narrative! Otherwise, there would be no way any Starfleet officer would be able to fly an alien vessel or use a completely unknown alien computer interface written in an alien language and successfully input complex commands on their first try, but here, they somehow do it all the time.

Osyrra was in contact with the Viridian telling them to launch their pesticide on Federation HQ's civilian population until Michael surrendered on condition that Osyrra call of the pesticide attack, at which point Osyrra called off the pesticide attack.

His ship is also quite small. It's possible a huge capital ship wouldn't have been capable of avoiding all the debris so easily.
They mention them previously along with other nondilithium based ways to travel. So it's hardly out of the blue or lazy. Looked kind of difficult what with all the debris in the way.
