The Voice UK

The one thing I will say about BGT/X Factor is there judges handle actually talking on camera much better  sometimes Voice's panel just seem so BLAND.

Yes, that's true. The Voice panel don't seem to give any consideration to what they're going to say until the camera is actually on them.

Also, anything even mildly critical is deeply shocking.

I have to say, my interest has waned considerably since the live shows began. It's just a blander version of X Factor now. They're even using the same gimmicks, like singing with your judge (sorry, coach), and the annoying little videos before each performance are very X Factor-esque.

So glad to see Ruth-Ann eliminated because she really CAN't sing, so so bad. Hannah clearly is better than Max so Danny has made a mistake. BBC need to move the result shows to the same nights as live shows because there is no tension in them at the moment and they are so padded out with NOTHING. The bottom two singers should have to sing again before the judges make the call to send one home.

BBC will make changes to the panel for 2013 after the ratings dropped to 8.2 million (though finals will push them up) behind BGT's 9.7 million, I think Will & Danny might face the chop.

All they need to do is tweak it somehow to get some actual drama into the live shows. They are just... dull at the moment. The X Factor without the bitchy politics and backstabbing - turns out, that's necessary!

I'm not sure I'd want to see a load of back stage bitchyness, Strictly gets along fine without it, and I kinda like that the coaches always seem to be a little caught out that it's there turn to speak, does at least mean it's not scripted.

I'm not sure that changing the coaches would really improve ratings, surely the rating issue comes down to the simple fact that the show becomes a bit less interesting once the blind auditions are out of the way? And that's not going to change whether it's Jesse J or Kylie sat there (please god not Cheryl though).

The results show def needs work, maybe they should let the other three coaches make the call when it's down to 2, now that'd inject some drama...

I'm glad Ruth Ann is out, she can sing but nowhere near good enough to compete with the others, and though I wanted Hannah to stay, I knew Danny would save Max (though I have to say he was better tonight.)

Best bit of the show, Aleks flirting with the double bass player.
Scariest bit of the night, some of Toni's facial expressions are really freakly. She has a hell of a voice but she scares me...

I agree it's not as interesting now as when the blind auditions were on, still prefer to watch it over X Factor though.

I thought it was just me who thought this, she really does have some crazy facial expressions, awesome voice though.

Oh yeah she's great, but the expression is quite distracting at times. I do wonder if its the lack of hair, whether that somehow exacerbates it, but to be honest I suspect she'd look just as disconcerting with hair.

oh, i'm glad it's not just me. i thought it was just me who thought she looked well, weird, when she was going all  like and hitting the high or long notes.

My interest is really waning now. I didn't watch the show tonight, just watched Frances' perf on Youtube as she's my favourite left and it still didn't excite me much.

It's a real shame that the live shows are such a drag because I'd hoped this could be much better. :(

Guess you won't be watching at all from now on? :(

I see what you mean. I'm doing it all arse upwards, seen the results show and now watching last night's (Been away) and really just ffw to all the songs.

i correctly called both contestants saved by viewer votes and who Tom would save. i was pretty sure Will would pick Tyler but did think he might pick 'Little Miss' Francses

Even without having seen the saturday show at that point I pretty much knew who Tom would pick. I was less sure with Will but I'm happy with that choice.

Probably not. :(

I wanted to give it a chance but this whole thing got so lifeless when it got to the live shows and now Frances has gone there's really no-one I want to watch (and the song choices aren't particularly good either). Ruth and Jaz are dreadful, Tyler's good but not one I want to watch a show for and since he didn't get voted through straight away anyway he's doomed, same with Leanne.

And on the other two coaches' teams there's only Becky and Cassius I quite like and as at least one of them will be gone next week...

I WAS glad that the Scissor Sisters performed, wonderful band, even though I didn't watch the results (and hence need to watch their perf to see if it was good or not), should be giving them some success anyway.

Well I don't know, voting gets tricky sometimes, and although I guess the Beeb might publish the facts and figures we've no idea how many votes Jazz/Ruth won by. I think Jazz is very god but I think Danny made a good point a few weeks ago about him being a bit middle of the road. Ruth's good but I think she needs time to really get better.

Cassius hasn't really registered with me yet (for good or bad) but I like Becky, she has attitude and I like the rough edge to her voice.

To be honest though, in terms of who I'd buy an album of it'd be Tyler or Bo (who's too subtle to win), or maybe Becky.

Well everyone left that I liked is now gone, and I have to say I nearly fell asleep on saturdays show. I think it might be time to do something else with my weekend evenings!

Jazz/Ruth will end up fighting for the winners spot, the rest just aren't in the same league IMO.

You could be right about them ending up fighting it out, but I don't neccesarily think they're the best, Leanne is just as powerful as Ruth, and I think the likes of Becky, Tyler, Bo and Aleks all have the potential for more longevity than Jaz in the music business.

I think the show is still enjoyable, but it needs tightening up a lot, I fast forwarded everything but the songs for the most part and it took less than an hour to watch. Seeing them practice is interesting but there's too much of it, and the later rounds definitely need jazzing up somehow. Like I've said before I think the other coaches should decide who stays/gos, that would definitely add some friction.

It's interesting how talent shows like this don't trust the public vote anymore. In the days of Pop Idol, it was a straight vote. Now both X Factor and the Voice ultimately leave it up to the judges. Too unpredictable, the public, I'd wager.

Well they're only leaving it up to the judges to get a second person through, and they still have to justify the coaches being there. I imagine the semi and the final will be just down to the public vote. But its horses for courses. I actually prefered it on Strictly when the judges made the final call.

I missed last week too, but the week before I liked David Julian and Bo Bruce best. I'm not sure about most of the others- the most interesting ones seem to have left. :/
