The Voice UK

I think it was more than a slight bit of arrogance, and Becky can sing. I don't think she's good enough to go all the way though. It did seem odd that she took the other girl when she was poor, then again you could say the same about taking Max...maybe Danny just liked his hat?

apparently J Marie Cooper is claiming ageism, cuz will.i.am picked 17 year old Sophie over 27 year old her and he said he thought Sophie could get better with age.

and she also resented the implication she had some sort of singing career when she did a gig on Strictly and she was actually working for 7.50 an hour in another job.

sounds a bit sour grapes to me.

Hmm, I think what shows like this show is that there's an awful lot of people out there who get a very fleeting moment in the spotlight which doesn't last. It probably is a fallacy to suggest that a single backing gig on Strictly means she had a career, but that's probably a change thousands would kill for.

there's an awful lot of people out there who can sing but only a small number of opportunities.

I was referring more to the Ben Kelly vs Ruth-Ann battle rather than the Becky vs Pixie & Indie battle. Even to my untrained ears, Ruth-Ann went off pitch several times but Jessie still picked her.

I think Sophie and Tyler are in trouble on Will's team but its hard to see whom from Tom's team will go maybe the guitar dude though I guess his looks will secure him female votes. I want the group gone from Tom's team as I still dislike the idea of groups in a show called "The Voice" but I think the public might vote against Sam.

Ruth once again stole the show.

Gutted to see Sam go and me enjoyment of the show is diminshed because of that. He was always so up for the show, his enjoyment and happiness was infectious at times. I can't help but think the UK public are sway by image more than talent at times because lets face it Sam was this podgy camp character and not the pretty boy/lady type.

Ruth has the best voice on the show bar none but I can see her not winning the show because shes not this model looking singer, a cruel twist of public voting systems...I saw it on X Faxctor many times and it was why I packed in watching that show after 3 seasons.

it could also be the same thing that's happened in Strictly; "oh, s/he's safe, everyone'll vote for him/her, i'll vote for X instead" and then X gets saved and the 'safe' one goes home.

^That's possibly it. Actually I think judging from Strictly I almost expected them to keep Sam in. Yeah he had a lot of enthusiasm, charm etc, but vocally he's nowhere near as strong as some of the others. And I'm not sorry for him because he will get work out of this, I can see him doing cruise ships/holiday camps.

Ruth is very good, though my gf points out she isn't quite as perfect as say Jaz is. I'm glad Tyler stayed in as I really like him, he's different and one of the few who didn't seem to need dancers/backing singers etc. WTF is that all about?

And image is a part of who'll win, but there's nothing to suggest a larger girl/guy is unmarketable: Adele, Alison Moyet, Cee Lo Green, sometimes talent wins out (though personally I think Adele is Gorgeous but she's no skinny model type).

And let's be honest as well, when it comes to the public they often put other things above talent or even looks, and Ruth does have the whole sob story element going on.

so do Tyler and Adam. Tyler was Dead Amy Winehouse's best mate and Adam chipped a bone in his arm falling off the stage.

Best Jessie J line of the night: "His jaw ain' chipped!"

I was quite happy with who went. Sam seems a nice guy but he clearly had the weakest voice there on Saturday (aside from Adam, who inexplicably gave a poor rock vocal and got through) and while I liked Sophie doing Titanium and she added a couple of nice touches, it's a hard song to sing and it showed her weaknesses badly.

I absolutely loved Frances though, she had a lovely tone to her voice when she sang Ain't Nobody and I was ecstatic when she got through. And Tyler was pretty damn great too. All the best ones are on Team will.i.am. :(

True, plus then you have people like Toni in Jesse's team as well. They're def playing some people's stories up more than others though.

Yeah I think Will possibly does have the best line up. Though Tom does have Leanne and Ruth who could go far. I think Danny only has Bo or David who could win it, Jesse, well I think for me she has the weakest lineup, though I quite like Becky.

Actually, when I think about it, I like this show, but the results show was incredibly dreary. There wasn't much tension in it at all, especially because there's such a small selection of people being announced through and they have the guest performance in between rather than having all the results at the end.

Also, Lana Del Rey is awful live. Her music is pretty brilliant, but she clearly has no confidence or stage presence yet.

Yeah I thought she seemed a bit underwhelming on stage.

I think the BBC need to go back to the idea of a later Saturday evening results show: they need to do the same for Strictly but it's even more of an issue with the voice because of the reasons you state. A 15 minute results show before/after Casualty would be more than sufficient.

got me all the people quoted whinging on the forums about the results show not being live on Sunday. i was like, "no? REALLY?! Holly and Jessie were wearing the same outfits how could you possibly NOT realise it wasn'tlive?!"

i actually prefer the Voice results show having less drama because the SCD results show drags out what should take all of about 2 minutes tops into a fucking twenty minute drama with all the "and the next person safe is..." dramatic music*pregnant pause an elephant could give birth in "person X!" crap.

The one thing I will say about BGT/X Factor is there judges handle actually talking on camera much better  sometimes Voice's panel just seem so BLAND.
