According to the early reviewsI expect DSC's usual weak points such as overstretching the great mystery of the season
there is no season long mystery, they know what it is they're trying to track down by the end of episode 1.

Is anyone else struggling to care about the season 5 premiere?
I just realized we're about 2 and a half weeks out from the start and I just haven't been thinking about it. I think this is the first time since ENT season 2 where I haven't really cared about a premiere of a new Trek season.
I enjoyed parts of season 4 that actually did some exploring of new worlds and new civilizations, but the pacing and other DIS issues bored me and it was a struggle to finish. I really hope that season 5 will make improvements and that the show can go out on a high, but from what little I have read about early reviews and seen in the trailers, DIS is going to DIS. At least I think they will be able to address overarching character stories and leave them in a good place. If nothing else, that will be a nice end to some characters I have liked (for the most part).
Anyone else struggling?
It's literally the headline on some websites, that makes it a safe bet to say it's "widely known" to me. And really, anyone who wants to go in so clean that hearing the season might be a sequel to something is considered too much is probably better off staying off the internet in general.
Nah. I'll watch. Hell, I watched the car crash that was PIC Season 2 and the train wreck that was PIC 3. I'm an easy mark.Is anyone else struggling to care about the season 5 premiere?

I detest how RMB managed to claw his way back into the conversation because of PIC S3 & being in Matalas’ orbit. I thought his abhorrent behavior during the Axanar debacle would’ve been enough to sideline him permanently, but unfortunately he keeps coming back. You lost me at RMB......
Should someone else tell him, or should I?Enterprise-X?
I'm going to let this linger.
Do you have to...?
Who IS this guy? And no, I don't want to give him clicks or even boost his Google numbers.I detest how RMB managed to claw his way back into the conversation because of PIC S3 & being in Matalas’ orbit. Part of the long running Axanar debacle.

Thank you!
Holy crap, 1700 pages?
Anyone have the Cliff's Notes? lol.
Not really because it went off the rails a couple of times, with some staunch Axanar defenders becoming very passionate, and others expressing frustration at a project that appeared to go nowhere, while profiting off of the Trek IP.Thank you!

Burnett's participation, especially his praising it as the best script he has read, and continuing down the CBS hate road in the process made him feel very much like an odd fan for Matalas to try and mend fences with.
@BillJ did a pretty good job of summarizing it though.
Come on, let's not drop major unmarked spoilers into non spoiler threads. It's not fair for people trying to stay unspoiled for the season.I watched a recent podcast of Robert Meyer Burnett's show on YouTube. (Yes, I know the feelings that people have towards him. Let's acknowledge that and not try to derail the discussion.) He said that he had seen the first five episodes of the season and described it as
a sequel to TNG's sixth season episode "The Chase". I don't see how there could be a sequel to this episode; however, I am kinda interested in how this season will tie into this episode. He did mention something which sounds, well, very stupid and I hope he is just exaggerating.
Burnett said there was an avalanche on a planet. To stop this avalanche, two starships, including the Discovery, literally slammed into the planet's surface, protected only by their shields.
Overall, well, if you know Burnett, you can probably guess his reaction to this season. 'Nuff said.
Not only that, but I remember RMB doxxing multiple people that were critical of the Axanar project in addition to generally being the textbook definition of toxic fandom. Not really because it went off the rails a couple of times, with some staunch Axanar defenders becoming very passionate, and others expressing frustration at a project that appeared to go nowhere, while profiting off of the Trek IP.
