Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

You know, as much as I like the SNW Enterprise, I think the aztecing is a bit too dark and heavy, Giving it a more subtle TMP-like finish would make it look much more advanced. However that might be the entire point, to make the ship look more primitive. They could be laying the groundwork for the much lighter Kirk-Era look, even if they don't go all the way to the TOS design.

It's the lighting. She's not not nearly as dark as she looks. Anytime she's in a brighter environment, you can really see the grey in her colour as opposed to the overly metallic look you get from the darker shots.

Even in a couple of those newer pics, you can see she's alot closer to the TOS colours then you think.

Yeah, I think because they don’t have to photograph a model with blown out exposures the true color is probably getting a little lost.

Some time ago, shortly before the premiere of the first season. They were showing off the SNW Enterprise in the form of a large scale model at some convention. Not sure the exact scale, atleast 1:500, if not bigger. Either way, she was a beautiful model and is hopefully a sign of something coming down the pipeline from Round 2.

But what really caught my attention was the paint job. It's beautiful and grey and not too metallic. I've always figured this is what the Enterprise looks like on the show, without all the lighting effects and filters and all that. It was my primary reference when I painted my own 1:1000 scale version.

I do like that John Eaves kept the phasers and torpedo launchers near to where they fired on TOS.
FTFY. (Yes the FJ Tech manual has the torp launchers on the top of the saucer, but on TV during TOS they clearlt fired from the underside of the saucer - and in the pre-remastered version too.)

That always bugged me as a kid that Joseph got that wrong. Plus, it's such a weird mistake to make since the torpedoes obviously never emanated from the top of the saucer, even making the three circular features on the front of the saucer torpedo tubes would have been better.
