I'd have reasons against it, but I'm sure it would bring tears.

To be clear and maybe English better: I'd have reasons against it (using the TOS bridge to close out Strange New Worlds), but I'm sure it (using the TOS bridge to close out Strange New Worlds) would bring tears (to my eyes).

Those dimensions were copied from the FJ TOS tech manual and do not fit the shape of this version of the Enterprise as it has different proportions than the TOS one.

I'm pretty sure most (all?) of FJ's dimensions come from The Making of Star Trek.

They're not identical though. The phaser and communicator are sleeker and honestly the SNW Tricorder looks worse than the TOS one.

The captain's chair too has differences.

I left off the tricorder for a reason. (Wait, are you implying the TOS tricorder doesn't look good?)

In any event all of these are certainly "TOS-looking".

I mainly meant like the ship and bridge haha. Instruments, weapons, uniforms-ish and other things would blend well. But sorry the ship and bridge are too technologically unadvanced looking to fit SNW (Sorry to the TOS superfans).

I love TOS and feel like it looks kind of unadvanced, especially some of the consoles and displays.

Which is why the SNW updates don't bother me. TOS was the future as seen through a 60s lens. SNW is the same future through 2020s lens. That perfectly acceptable because our understanding of data storage and technology has grown exponentially, and potentially have a larger impact as we go forward.

I wonder if we'll see Record tapes again. They appeared briefly in DSC Season 1 and 2, and you can see them inserted in slots on the SNW bridge consoles, but I don't believe anyone has actually used one.

The Enterprise being listed as having an endurance rating of 18 years from 2245 could explain why TOS looks so different. As it obviously exceeded the endurance rating, it must've been completely rebuilt into TOS style.

Before SNW it was built into The Cage and then into Disco / SNW and then it will be built into Where No Man (which looks a heck of a lot like The Cage).

But let's go the other way: SNW is the real deal. Everything else was a TV show from the 1960's. What is going to change in 2266ish to make it look ten years more advanced than Pike's current ship?

And then (a question that will never really be asked or answered) what will it look like in 2270-whatever to make it look like the "leap forward" that TMP was?

And while we're here (I know, this is the starships thread) will we ever see anyone use a phaser 1? PLEASE?

The Talosians altered everyone's view of the ship to make it look retro in Cage just to mess with Starfleet. The crew either didn't notice or didn't care
