I don't mind the opinion. I just want to know what the standard is. In case I should be embarrassed more often.

You're right. I was pressed for time in trying to find an appropriate meme. This might suit better. As opposed to conform or die?
This is silly. Not the least of which because you don’t speak for “everyone else.” I mean, of all the cockamamie…
You? Gadzooks, you should be embarrassed all the time.I don't mind the opinion. I just want to know what the standard is. In case I should be embarrassed more often.
It's unfortunate that such glimpses are so few and far between. Even so, it looks a bit too matte in these shots, but that might not be the ship, just the screen grab. Even the windows aren't lit up. I like the pearlescent TMP especially, but, again, both TOS and the movies showed a brighter ship, whether it lit itself by future material use or special lighting.Another nice lighting shot showing how light the hull is. I think they made it lighter since DSC Season 2.

Excuse me? What does stating my opinion about the ship have to do with you? It looks to me like you're picking a fight because you don't like that, what, we feel differently about the design? Move along, before I go looking for memes. You're right. I was pressed for time in trying to find an appropriate meme. This might suit better.![]()
Better?
I use to be. Then I started taking these pills...? Gadzooks, you should be embarrassed all the time.![]()

It's embarrassing for whatever designer thinks that ostentation is cool; it's the antithesis.
It's your assertion that someone should be embarrassed over a design element of the Enterprise. It reaks of pretentiousness. You could simply point out you don't like something and you're welcome to that opinion... but to say someone should be embarrassed for liking the design, as clearly many do, doesn't sit with me. Frankly, it's an embarrassing opinion to have.Excuse me? What does stating my opinion about the ship have to do with you? Maybe it would be nice if people didn't tell people to be or not be embarrassed. That's a pretty powerful emotion that can have a negative impact on a person.but to say someone should be embarrassed for liking the design, as clearly many do, doesn't sit with me. I was bullied and made to feel embarrassed as a child for liking Star Trek. It was the 80's/early 90's and I grew up in a very small town. To say sci-fi was unpopular, would be an understatement. So now, to see someone using such terms, might set me off a little. Like what you like, dislike what you dislike. But saying that someone, even a designer in this case, should be embarrassed over something, anything really. Nope. Fuck that. Take that attitude and shove it.Maybe it would be nice if people didn't tell people to be or not be embarrassed. That's a pretty powerful emotion that can have a negative impact on a person.

I’ll own up to my pretentiousness if that’s what this is. Some designs are worse than others and I don’t think saying that is purely subjective, not to individual tastes alone anyway. Are there bullies in this world? Yes, but what they do should not continue to affect us.It's your assertion that someone should be embarrassed over a design element of the Enterprise. From what I can tell, you spend most of your time here micro agressing, dare I say bullying, under and above the radar of the mods. Pot, look in the mirror.Maybe it would be nice if people didn't tell people to be or not be embarrassed. That's a pretty powerful emotion that can have a negative impact on a person.

Nah, a designer puts their work out for public praise and yes criticism, and not everything they put out should be received with equal praise. How would they ever really know what people think, or engage in meaningful dialogue with the audience?I was bullied and made to feel embarrassed as a child for liking Star Trek. Telling people to be embarrassed is confusing as fuck. It implies a standard that I don't know. And I would love clarification rather than being told how to feel about things. So, if that's microaggressing then by all means please report me. I just want some clarification on opinions. From what I can tell, you spend most of your time here micro agressing, dare I say bullying, under and above the radar of the mods. Pot, look in the mirror.
Let me be clear, to the point of near rudeness (or aggression?): My only point of contention is stating that the designer should be embarrassed by the design. I do not understand WHY. That's all I want to know.Nah, a designer puts their work out for public praise and yes criticism, and not everything they put out should be received with equal praise. Interesting design. Really plain but clean. Fascinating idea. I definitely can see the idea of Jefferies taking some inspiration from rockets with this look. The SNW is okay, but I don't love it. Overall it feels a bit too busy and clunky to me - I'm more in the streamlining camp. In order of how much they bug me:
Still, I don't hate it. I've just seen stuff I've liked better. Some of it has been done by forum members here.
- All the extra do-dads and pointy tips added to the nacelles
- The over-tapered shuttle bay with its long lip
- The split pylons
- The red stripe along the secondary hull apparently now physically formed into the metal itself
- Having gone a bit overboard on the 'metallic plating' look

Your track record suggests otherwise, and because of it, I don't feel like engaging with you tonight.Let me be clear, to the point of near rudeness (or aggression?): My only point of contention is stating that the designer should be embarrassed by the design. If I were really trying to be insulting I would have come up with elaborate metaphors and done so with verve and gusto. You can criticize without insulting.
This,..The SNW interior sets are fantastic. The ship itself? Well, I like the new windows on the saucer but the whole thing is too squished still. And the bridge window is a complete mess - instead of moving the bridge forward in the dome as was done in the 2009 reboot, the window "frame" extends for like ten meters on the exterior model but not at all on the interior sets.
I know certain people here kept and keep posting on about how all the changes are not only good, but necessary and important.... and then they admitted they didn't even see the differencesAgreed. We're mostly starship nerds here, I'd bet a larger percentage of people than we would care to admit who watch don't care or barely realize there's even a difference.
The Briar PatchTie in sources establish a Klingon-Romulan alliance and limited tech exchange - Romulan-style cloaks in exchange for Klingon D7s. Alliance ends with the Battle of Klach D’Kel Brakt.
It has a beautiful shiny colorful reflection on the hull in one scene in the intro - but only thereAnyway, here’s a change I wish they did make: I rather like the look of the ship at times when it looks a bit golden, a bit like the Discovery early on. I wouldn’t have minded if they gave the ship a bit of a metallic gold sheen during this period. Always thought it was a little steampunky on DSC. Wouldn’t make sense, but it would look kinda cool regardless, I think.
