Ryan Church and Sean Hargreaves had the same thing happen to their designs for the Enterprise and Enterprise-A respectively in the Kelvin timeline movies.
Well, he only comes up with the designs. He doesn’t actually build the CGI models.
Did anyone get decent shots of the Romulan fleet? Seems like there's some new battlecruiser, the flagship, and non cloaking birds of prey.
Yeah, they say the angled nacelles were done after it left Eaves' hands. But it's par for the course in TV/film. These guys are hired to make a design for someone else, who is free to make whatever changes they desire. Roddenberry had the Enterprise-D's nacelles extended, for example, or the Kelvinprise being scaled up and having the nacelle caps made blue instead of red. DS9 had a bunch of random windows added to the central core, totally messing up the original intended scale.
Are you talking about the ENT Romulan BoP? Because the angled nacelles were part of Eaves’s concept art from the start. He even added tiny wing extensions to those angled nacelles which never got past the concept stage.
Or did you mean the Discoprise pylons?
Nice renders. It would've easily been my second favorite Trek ship if it had the straight pylons. Still ranks pretty high.

True, I believe that was during the design process though, before it went on to become a model. I guess CGI allows producers to skip over the artists in this regard.
