Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

I recall in the premiere Discovery 2-parter, them alternating between "phasers" and "phase canons" when describing the Shenzhou's weaponry.
To be fair, the ship did have 2 different weapon hard points on the model.
There were the Connie refit style phasers which you see on all the DSC/SNW ships, and the phaser cannons that popped out of those hatches.

It probably wasn't the writers intent, but you can rationalize it that way

Best shot I can find right now.

Bit clearer on the STO model

The ship is like the Bajoran solar sailor, only larger. It belongs to a new species. There is, as well, a mention to a Skylark. I think this is a Federation starship. In the real world, there were two US Navy ships named Skylark.

I wonder if Solar Sailing would be as popular as regular sailing on the ocean?

Given that there is no limit to acceleration in space with only Time Dialation to worry about, it could offer a interesting, but slow way to tour a Solar System.

Especially using Gravitational Slingshots around various planets & moons for fun.

And lots of Stamets-type shuttles flying around. I was really hoping to see another starship of another class at the station.

Has anyone figured out which Connie we saw crashed on some of the early S1 teasers? The Kongo, maybe (based on Spock's remembrance pin)?

Was hoping it would be the USS Constitution... but I guess we'll have to wait a little longer to find out. It's killin' meeeee! and who the heck do we have to bug on Twitter to get background info on SNW like Dave Blass was for Picard. Dave was/is a BOSS!

There are also 2 Disconnie models in the conference room
Oh wow, I have to look for that next viewing. I was too busy hypnotically bussard gazing.

I'd bet that is from the SF, a cliffhanger.

I'm still thinking that's the Farragut, with the finale being Enterprise coming after the disaster with the vampire cloud has happened (why there is so much blood on the planet surface). Kind of a lead up to the second season and the introduction of Kirk.

Any chance someone with the show posted a closer shot of the other Connie?
There's no name or registry visible.

There was a memorial pin for the Farragut in episode 4.

Why are they so obsessed with retconning the Enterprise's size? Maybe if they didn't make sets that look like they'd be too big for the Enterprise-D they wouldn't have to pretend that the Enterprise 1701 was always about 100 meters bigger then Voyager (making it as big as secondary sources say the Nebula class is). The Kelvin timeline having super gigantic ships makes some sense, because no one involved with ST09 gave a single shit about Star Trek and (from what I remember reading) just wanted the shuttlebay to be gigantic which screwed the whole design up, but this is ridiculous. Just because they can do something (in this case making ridiculously huge sets) doesn't mean they should.

The production design stuff really is the biggest flaw of the otherwise generally excellent SNW. Like the other modern live action shows its stuck in the stupid Kelvinverse/Discovery school of starships and its getting to the point where I'm shocked that Picard was allowed to keep the Ent-D's original design the few times we see it, and didn't ruin it retroactively.
