Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

Very possibly, yes. It will be all we have to go on unless they start doing officially sanctioned technical manuals like back in the before-times.

The Hermes class looks amazing, but its apparent size makes no sense for a crew of only 3 people. Since it's called the Archer and has such a small crew, I'm mentally replacing the image of the Hermes class with the Archer-class scouts from the Star Trek: Vanguard novels. ;)

The Archer wasn’t given a class name, was it?

Maybe it was named after Henry Archer. ;)
Actually, on further reflection (and as @BillJ aptly notes) Starfleet isn't the only part of Archer's legacy, as he was credited with the founding of the Federation and one of it's presidents. So the Federation should be giving him accolades, not Starfleet.

*shrugs* I'm going by what Memory Alpha called it.

Oh I dunno. I don't see how Starfleet commissioning the USS Jonathan Archer is any different from the U.S. Navy commissioning the USS George Washington or the German Navy commissioning the FGS Konrad Adenauer.

I don't either, which is why the USS ARCHER strikes me as enough of an acknowledgement of those accomplishments. Any other accolades or memorials would come from the Federation government rather than one part of it.

It regards to The Archer, the wire mesh image appears to show no sign of a "bridge dome". That mixed with the extremely small crew size, leads me to believe that the opening at at front of the saucer is actually the bridge window. There even appears to be a light source coming from that area. I think this ship is ALOT smaller then we think.

Well, I'm not entirely sure I follow what you're saying here, but suffice it to say that I don't see the issue with Starfleet commissioning a USS Archer or a USS Jonathan Archer alongside the Federation government honoring Archer in other ways.

It’s just speculation based on the shape. It wasn’t given a class name in the episode

Okay, but whatever you want to call the canonical, I'm mentally replacing it with the Archer-class from the Vanguard novels. ;)

We're in agreement.
