The single best five words I heard while re-watching THE AVENGERS last

Re: The single best five words I heard while re-watching THE AVENGERS

I very rarely have seen people that noisy at the movie theater. Its been my experience that people usually shut up very early into the movie.

^ One of the downsides to a popular movie, people are in the audience that you don't have to put up with at most movies.

I had one dumbass sitting two chairs over from me answering his cell phone. The second time he did I told him rather loudly to take it outside.

We had a group of teenage guys sitting across from us who just wouldn't shut up. For only the third time in my cinema going life, I took action. I went over and said "Guys, keep it down. You're pissing a lot of people off!!" To my amazement, it worked. The two 6 foot-plus guys with me, one of whom is an ex-cop, might have helped.

Had something similar back when we saw Tron 2.. a group of teenagers/young adults were in front of us and really made some noise before the movie started. Movie starts and they still keep going until a buddy of mine leans forward and gives them hell (won't repeat the exact words but it was hilarious). They turn around to fire back apparently and see 5 guys.. the one who insulted them looking like the skinhead from hell (shaved head, big and menacing looking but a really cool and peaceful dude usually) and the others no small metrosexuals either. They quickly turned back and were quiet for the rest of the movie

But i've got a baby (or rather very young kids) story too.. happened during X-Men 3 but in this case it could be argued if it was bothering.. the movie was worse ;)

I attended a midnight showing of the film with a few friends. There was a family - dad, mom, three children no older than 5 - in the row behind us. They were obnoxious as hell, though I was a little surprised that the dad was worse than any of the kids.

I went to the 7:30pm showing on on opening day, and there was a baby two rows back from us. Couldn't believe it. If a baby can't make it through an hour of church, what makes these parents think they can make it through 2.5 hrs of an action film?

"Mommy, what's a mewling quim?".

I thought it was funny when after they ran the "Turn off your cellphone" bit, they had three adds for downloading the app for the theater chain and Liking them on Facebook.

The problem is that most ushers are just teenage kids. I was one myself a long time ago. The theater managers/supervisor usually don't monitor this type of stuff. The ushers either don't care or are too intimidated to confront obnoxious customers.

I remember in the summer of 1997, Independence Day, Twister, the first Mission Impossible, most of the other ushers only cleaned the theaters after the movie. Otherwise they would sneak into the movies and watch. The supervisor was clueless. They never bothered to check audience behavior.

Re: The single best five words I heard while re-watching THE AVENGERS

My viewing of the Avengers was really good, pretty much the entire crowd shut up for the film (apart from laughing at the appropriate bits which is acceptable) :)

I don't usually get as annoyed with something like The Avengers, it's so loud anyway, but earlier this year I went to a showing of The Woman in Black that was full of Kids who were laughing and arsing around even as it started, heck I'm pretty sure they were texting each other across the cinema as well. I went out fairly quickly to advise the ushers and to their credit they kept coming in and kept a lid on a lot of the noise, though it was still way too boisterous given the nature of the film. I think it's a credit to the film that I still managed to be creeped out by it in places despite it not being the most condusive of environments.

I've had to tell someone to take their phone call outside before now as well. I must be getting old because I just don't get why people can't turn their damn phone off for 2 hours, just seperate yourself from the collective, it'll still be there when then film's finished :borg: It may not be a major distraction but people checking Facebook/texting is annoying too, I'm trying to watch the film and find my eye drawn to these random lights in the audience!

Someone bought a baby into a film earlier this year as well, thankfully they left rather quickly!

Re: The single best five words I heard while re-watching THE AVENGERS

Maybe they should change the opening warning to "Please silence your cellphones and babies now. If you cannot control your baby, you will be removed...with fire."

This. I would fully support this.

Seriously though, are the parents paying a full price ticket for a baby?
