The Omega Glory...

How much more interesting this story would be if the Yangs were the Asian villagers and the Kohms the fair-skinned nomads.

You gotta love the AI running the bridge viewer on the Exeter. It knows when to stop recording the officer's desperate warning, and offers a shimmer effect to pretty much punctuate that yup, transmission terminated. Session is ended. He's dead, Jim. Gaaaakkk! No wasted gigabytes here.

And they say Alexa's creepy.

This could have been a great episode. Woodward was excellent as a ships captain who was every bit as good if not better than Kirk. If only they had concentrated on his obsession with eternal youth.
Why did this episode need to be a parallel Earth ? As in Miri the fact that it is an exact parallel Earth not only made no sense, served no plot point, but actually weakened the main story.

I'd love to see some Short Treks with Ron Tracey. You know, just to see if he was always a little unhinged. Which I'm pretty sure he was...

...Only a brain dead SJW would see that as a 'slur". Or maybe you are suffering from JLS (Janice Lester Syndrome).

Well I certainly appreciate the feedback, and will give it all the consideration it deserves.

In the meantime, it is a slur, and I’m not going to derail this thread by getting into an argument about it.

Now drop it, or you’ll get a formal warning.

Freedom lovers versus fascists would have also worked. Communism is a totalitarian system that shares much in common with fascism so they could have used a more generic form of 20th century Earth dictatorship as a model for the Kohms, but this was the late 1960s and we were up to our eyeballs in both the Cold War and Vietnam. They were going to take the easy road out with the allegories in this episode.

New guy doesn't know you're a moderator.

He hit the switch before he fell, didn't you see him?

New guy didn't last long. Popped by, blasted a load of threads with mostly pointless asides and is now defunct

I see something like that and want to say something but I also don't like to try to be a moderator, I'm not, so I just leave it to the proper authorities. Good Job @1001001 !

If it weren't for his greed for the fireboxes, I'm pretty sure Wu would happily slit Captain Tracey's throat in his sleep. And the Captain knows it.

Site etiquette (like involving offensive language and terms) needs to be learned sometimes (thanks Moderators). I don't think we should discourage newbies especially if they are exuberant when first joining the site. I hit a lot of topics when I first joined after bulk reading so many topics before I joined. Just a thought.

Which is why is didn't discourage the poster during their initial (several dozen) postings: They claimed to be an original series fan from the 1960s so I would really have liked to hear their views in the "production order" viewing thread and I responded accordingly. However, it was what they were responding to and how which raised my suspicions. A quick browse of that poster's history has not assuaged those thoughts.
I still can't be clear if they were booted or just left in a huff

Wu was 462 years old as of the time of the episode and was probably used to turning on other chiefs and members of his clan/tribe. You don't live for nearly five centuries in a society governed by tribal warfare and not learn when your leader has outlived their usefulness. Had Kirk and his officers never discovered Captain Tracey's fate he may well have come to rule over Kohm society until Wu or another one of his native lieutenants turned on him, and given Tracey's unstable personality and erratic behavior that might not have taken long.

Wu may have offed Tracey within a matter of months if not weeks had the Enterprise not intervened.
