This is definitely the time and way to get it. I'm counting down the days to the sampler.

Any CGI that exists from STNG is going to have to be completely redone, its not up to the HD standard, doesn't he know that yet??

^I think we're wasting our breath. It looks like it was just a drive-by posting by CaptainJack. He clearly made no effort to read the thread.

I look forward to the new CGI for the Darsay Archive in Masks...as good as it was, it would have to be better in 1080p CGI.

There's also the under used ventral star-drive phaser array.

I remember not liking Masks when it first aired so I've only seen it the one time. Maybe rewatching it in HD will change my mind. It'll almost be like wacthing a new episode for me!

    I'd love to see that.

This is honestly how I felt watching TOS-R. Even episodes I'd seen multiple times, or episodes I didn't really like were fascinating to watch again and see all the fantastic detail of the production.

Considering there isn't anything relevant in the background of the shot, they can easily use another clip of the Enterprise from a better angle and add the phaser fire in.

I like that they are taking a restrained approach to this. It seems too easy on these things to succumb to "feature creep" and start adding things just because they can.

I found it amusing. Should probably be in its own thread, though.

They should just use a different shot of the model. It would look silly to have the beam coming off the backside of the phaser-strip going forwards.

Considering the number of shots prior to this of the Enterprise firing her phasers, there really wasn't any need for a new shot in the first place.

At times like this, stock footage is your friend.

That thing is fugly, but doesn't look too bad in that shot -- probably because only part of the ship is visible.

    Speaking of DS9 and HD..
we do get to see a glimpse of the station in the TNG episode "Birthright", both inside and outside.
I am sure it will look glorious:cool:

You're right! That should be pretty cool although I think it'll be a quite a few years before we get to see it.

I want the entire Star Trek universe in Blu-ray. Is that too much to ask for? And when is the new live action series coming dammit? :)
