The Office - Time to Wrap it Up?

^
In regards to your spoiler, similar events have happened and we've rarely seen the anyone care that much, at least about the damage.

^ I guess. "Stress Relief" was well into the show's downhill period, though, IMO. It seemed like when the Temp started a fire in the break room it was a big deal.

As much as I love the show and characters, I really think it should have ended last year. I think they should have spent the first half of the season with the Jim/Pam wedding and the second half doing what they're doing now with Michael and Holly and then just wrapped it all up at the end.

I thought the new guy in season 8 is going to be the actor who played Jack Donaghy's G.E nemesis in 30 Rock for a few seasons played by Will Arnet?

I heard the same thing. The Ferrall thing is a temporary "sweeps" stunt. Then, rumor has it, Will Arnett (Gob on Arrested Development) will be the new boss.
Also, Ricky Gervais for the season finale.

I wonder if David Brent is going to apply for the vacancy.

And Michael will just shrug it off

Stanley- The water damaged all our medical records

Michael- Yeah well......take it up with Toby.

I saw one episode of this and havent watched it since.

Indeed.

I just refer to it the "Fake Office".

The REAL Office wrapped up after two seasons and a brilliant Christmas special.

I mostly agree. I wouldn't even give the show a chance for the longest time.

I finally watched it, and it wasn't as bad as I feared.

But really there is a reason the original is so fondly remembered. They went out on top after telling the story they wanted to tell.

But of course this version will go on and on until every bit of life it had is sucked out.

So to answer the question, yes it's well past time to wrap it up.

Watching David Brent mug for the camera and be awkward, and Tim roll his eyes at the camera was brilliant for a couple of seasons. Watching Michael and Jim do the same for 8 years...ugh, enough already!

I don't watch the office but Will Farrell said yesterday an interview is that he IS THE replacement and will be a regular next season. No one knows for sure if he was kidding or not

I predict you'll see Charlie Sheen as Carrell's permanent replacement before you see Ferrell in the lead role permanently.

I still like the show. Even though it's nowhere near as good as Season 2 and 3, it can still hit an episode out of the park. A majority of Season 6 was probably some of the worst TV i've ever had the displeasure of viewing, but man Jim and Pam's wedding was fantastic. I think that the show still has the potential to be good and I'm excited about the prospect of a new boss. I think that this could inject some more life into the show.

It's still pretty watchable, with occasional moments of brilliance that a lot of shows never approach in the first place.

If Will Arnett signs up, I'll be a very happy man.

Looks like it because Will Arnet has just signed for a pilot ruling him out of the job next season.

A worn out The Office is still 10x's better than most of the newer shows on now.

I have it on good authority that none other than great television star and series savior Ted McGinley is pretty much locked down as the replacement :p

The Office Exclusive: Ray Romano, James Spader, Catherine Tate in Running For Top Job

With Steve Carell’s Office exit set to air in a matter of weeks (April 28 to be exact), you’d think the pool of possible Michael Scott successors would be narrowing.

Think again.

Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that three additional names have been added to the short long list of potential replacements: Ray Romano, James Spader and British funny lady Catherine Tate!

Although an NBC rep declined to comment, an insider confirms that the trio will appear in The Office‘s hour-long May 19 season finale as candidates for the vacant office manager position. They join previously announced finale guest stars (and wannabe Dunder Mifflin honchos) Will Arnett and Ricky Gervais.

Of the five finalists, only two stand a realistic chance of taking over the gig full-time: Spader and Tate. Romano’s committed to Men of a Certain Age, Arnett just booked an NBC pilot, and Gervais has been there done that. Will Ferrell, meanwhile, wraps up his arc in mid-May, and — despite buzz to the contrary — is not expected back next season.

Personally, I hope they give it to Tate. The woman is a comedic genius with a proven track record in office settings. The following clip from The Catherine Tate Show is proof of that.

I confess I have no idea who Catherine Tate is, but I adore James Spader and could see him being a good fit with the show and cast, actually.
